Andre 3000[edit]

In the section on sightings, there is a line that says that Andre 3000 has been sighted with a microKORG in the music video for "Hey Ya!". Before I removed it, there was text beside this line saying "(No he doesnt)". Can anyone confirm that he does or does not have a microKORG in this video? Zendik 22:25, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He most certaily did not have one. I just saw the video and i know what a microkorg looks like.

Band advertisements[edit]

I think some of the bands listed as using microkorgs don't belong. Some of them (I'm mostly looking at showbread) seem like advertisements for unknown bands. If a band doesn't deserve their own wiki entry, they probably don't deserve a place on the list.

Showbread isn't an unknown band...They're more popular than I wish they were. I'm adding them back in if they were removed.

Sightings[edit]

I dont think its necassary to have 'uses a microKORG' at the end of every bullet point. Perhaps the title here could be changed to "famous past & present users of the microKORG" to fix this--Alexdude1991 09:07, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The section is an embarrassment. I believe it should be deleted, and replaced with a sentence that reads "The MicroKorg has proved popular with electronic musicians, and has been used by EXAMPLE1, EXAMPLE2, and EXAMPLE3, amongst others". In its current form the list dwarfs the content of the article, contains no useful information whatsoever, and is a magnet for tiny minds. -Ashley Pomeroy 15:38, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the deed is done. I've tried to capture a range of different musicians in just four or five examples. It's silly to try and list everyone who has ever used a MicroKorg - there's a difference between information and knowledge. The plethora of MySpace artist links were generally not notable, although I mean no insult to the music-makers; collectively the MySpace links indicate that the MicroKorg has widespread appeal, but that's the kind of observation that would be more suitable for an essay than an objective facts-and-figures encyclopaedia. Advertisment[edit]

The following paragraph is advertisment since it is from the Korg's official website:

In an interview for Korg's official website in late 2004,[1] Liam Howlett of The Prodigy said that "The microKORG is wicked. You've only got to put it on big speakers to hear the depth it's got. It's got so much power for a little keyboard." From the same source, in January 2004,[2] Torbjorn Brundtland of Röyksopp stated that "of course we use the microKorg, which is a really powerful instrument. It has the same quality of abstract effects that the MS20 has."

DJ Nihilist[edit]

I've removed it from the list of Notable artists (and it has subsequently been re-instated), as Wikipedia does not have an article on it (one assumes then, that DJ N. does not fit the criteria for notability. Either that, or no-one has made a page on it). That said, can someone authenticate the Notability of said artist? Otherwise, there is no place for it in 'Notable Artists', and I will remove it again. Digital Statement[edit]

I've altered a line in the first section regarding the MicroKorg XL that states "it uses MMT Multi Modeling Technology from the more powerful Radias/R3 synthesizers that Korg makes and now runs completely digitally". Both the microKorg and microKorg XL are entirely digital synthesizers which are based on a subtractive synthesis technique often called 'analog modelling', so this statement only confuses matters by suggesting otherwise. I had to reword the sentence slightly so that it still flows ok.

Notable Artists[edit]

The section is just one large name dropping sections. None of it is referenced and I don't think it adds anything tot he article. I think it's time for it to be removed. Ridernyc (talk) 17:53, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
