NPOV?[edit]

On July 21, 2006, User:C56C added an NPOV tag. No explanation was given. I have removed it today with the hope that doing so will motivate someone to explain what the NPOV concern is. The article as it is right now is pretty bare bones and descriptive so I am not sure what the issue is. --Deodar 23:15, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it should have a NOPV tag until it becomes a balanced article. this is a hghly controversial organization, criticized for anti-Israel and anti-American politics. The present listing fails to explain why the organization is controversial. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 160.39.35.59 (talk) 19:55, August 21, 2007 (UTC)

MESA or MESA NA?[edit]

The title of the value is MESA North America - why? I could not find any place where MESA calls itself MESANA (except for its URL). Is this an international society or a north-American one? + is 'in North America' part of its name??? Requires a clarification. 94.117.132.60 (talk) 10:59, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Controversies[edit]

This organization has been controversial at times but there's no mention of any of them on the article. It's been accused by Israel supporters of having an institutional anti-Israel bias, encouraging non-compliance with National Defense Education Act requirements, etc. Perhaps even more importantly, its membership and leadership have mostly been incapable of connecting with the broader American public or influential public/political figures to explain what the role or function of middle east studies within U.S. society should be, which has set the pattern whereby professional middle-east studies academics are mostly sidelined and irrelevant in U.S. public policy debates...
