Types, subtypes, subsubtypes ...[edit]
The item on types of migration was changed from a 3-level indented bulleted list to a paragraph, not principally because such a structure is a mess and text is preferable, but because – as the indentation indeed admitted - the material was in fact covered in Animal migration, which in turn has "main" links to a bunch of subsidiary articles, and indeed sometimes to sub-subsidiary articles also. In short, the job of a high-level article in a domain is not to try to say everything - as Voltaire rightly observed, that's a bore; and more importantly, it's impossible and inappropriate for any article. The job is, instead, to indicate the main features, and to introduce and link the main articles which explain it further. If you like, the job of the tree-trunk is to support the main branches, maybe two or three of them; and each branch has the job of supporting its main branchlets, and so on. We don't want to list the whole thing in the trunk article, then repeat less and less of the material in each sub-article, that way madness lies. So, in short, I cut the list down to say that migration is (frankly) mainly animal migration, and I briefly mentioned its main branches, that's 2 levels already, quite enough. "Migration in response to climate change" is a WP:COATRACK[edit]
The newly-added section "Migration in response to climate change" is a WP:COATRACK, a disproportionately long (WP:UNDUE) addition to a compact and well-focused article, on what is basically a different topic, global heating and its dire effects. However worthy that is, it's really out of place here. I note further that much of the material is uncited or at best very sparsely cited. There is no objection to creating a new article and inserting a "main" link to it from here, but that would of course be subject to the usual critical attention from other editors.
