Mike Kafka GA Review[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch

  • MOS: good, nbsps are in order structure.
  • Flow: There are a lot of really short paragraphs, one for each game. These should be merged to give a more logical flow. Also, with the season, are there not any trends? The article simply consists of a list of results. If he eg, started the season not so productively, and his stats went up in the middle of the season, and then declined, this should be mentioned. Some of this should be put in the article to give the sections more shape and less of a listy feel.
    • I view this list feel as WP:PROSELINE.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:49, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • I've merged the paragraphs. Also, after reading through the paragraph, I don't see any game that's not relevant since in games he threw for under 300 yards, he lead Northwestern in rushing or broke a school record, led them on a comeback win, etc.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 16:13, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sources:Pass RS.
    • On formatting, why is ESPN in the ".com" format and the rest not, eg Chicagotribune.com is not used.
  • Style of play: Why is there not any discussion of this? What is this person good/bad at? Fast running? dodging tackles? Good vision of 3-4 passes ahead? Strong at tackling? Accurate passing?
    • I've honestly never seen a football GA (i.e. Mike Quinn or Sean Bennett) with a section like this. But I'll see what I can find.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 03:26, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • I have never seen one, but what you need is to look at something like NFL scouting reports that eveluate his strengths and weaknesses, if such reports exist already.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:49, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
        • Style of play: runs well if given the chance and Northwestern's offensive system consists of mainly short passes and not much running from true running backs and full backs. This information seems like opinion though, but I believe I saw it somewhere and I'll try and find it. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:06, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Subjective material is allowed if there is a disclaimer as such. It seems odd but in NFL/baseball/NHL, US type sports the articles tend to avoid discussing player style whereas soccer and cricket articles do not YellowMonkey (bananabucket) (help the Invincibles Featured topic drive) 04:31, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll work on finishing this up at some point today.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 16:19, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
