Article[edit]

To the extent that McQueary is a figure of substantial public interest (meriting a Wikipedia entry), it's mostly a function of his involvement in the Sandusky sexual abuse scandal. His conduct is as much or more at issue than his status as a witness.

I cannot fathom why his unsuccessful tryouts with a couple NFL teams are worthy of note in his wikipedia entry, but no information beyond his being "identified as a witness" is worthy of note with respect to the sexual abuse scandal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.228.12.17 (talk) 16:36, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to see this note from the Sandusky scandal wiki incorporated here: "According to the [Sandusky] indictment, in 2002 assistant coach Mike McQueary, then a Penn State graduate assistant [16], walked in on Sandusky having anal intercourse with a ten-year-old boy. The next day, he reported the incident to Paterno, who informed Curley. Ultimately, the only action Curley and Schultz took was to order Sandusky not to bring any children from Second Mile to the football building, an action that was approved by school president Graham Spanier. The indictment accused Curley and Schultz not only of failing to tell the police, but also of falsely telling the grand jury that McQueary never informed them of sexual activity.[17]

Dr. Dranov[edit]

Hi, I notice that someone put in the sentence saying there is the upcoming perjury trial, and also attempted to put Dr. Dranov's account of being there during the discussion when MM was reporting what he had seen to his father. The two references were switched (the sentence inserted in the article went with the other ref). Actually the remaining ref does have the Dranov quote. The actual sentence in the Sports Grid article is "As per Dranov’s account:McQueary heard “sex sounds” and the shower running, and a young boy stuck his head around the corner of the shower stall, peering at McQueary as an adult arm reached around his waist and pulled him back out of view. Seconds later, Sandusky left the shower in a towel."

An editor named Neogeo2217 correctly observed that the Dranov quote does not exist in the indicated reference (to a radio program).

It does exist in the retained reference, the reference deleted was the one explaining that two Penn administrators are going to have a perjury trial. I have put back in the deleted line and will check with the editor who deleted it to make sure that it is now OK.

I note MM has testified just today, testimony that is maybe related to Dranov's recollection, closer to that than his original, not yet any account of today's testimony but maybe OK to wait a few weeks and see what happens. Final section[edit]

The final section (currently called 'personal life') may violate wp:blp. We don't know know why his wife took his kid to another state or how much time he is allowed to spend there with them. The source, an ESPN article by Don Van Natta Jr. dated March 4, 2014, states that McQueary was separated from his wife and daughter. That same statement is made in this Wikipedia article, without any intent at conjecture regarding the reason or further details. I've updated the timeframe of the second sentence in the section, to match the source. The information has nothing to do with a trial transcript. —ADavidB 05:15, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
