Not a "philosopher"[edit]

There doesn't seem to be source suggesting he was a "professional philosopher" meaning a professor of philosophy. He wrote a bit about the topic-- but his degree and professional appointment and nearly everything he's published was psychology.

It's very unlikely he could (even if much younger) get a full-time "real" job as a philosophy professor. Such a job seems like the default (stupid) definition of "philosopher." Apart from whether Groth meets this definition (he don't) I'd argue something different: that a "philosopher" is somebody who creates a unique and notable system of ideas with reference to the traditions of the field. Very, very few professors would qualify as such. But they enjoy calling themselves "philosophers" nonetheless. 76.250.61.86 (talk) 06:01, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
