Merge with Milindapanha ?[edit]

Overlapping info with same item being described. Merge needed. Larry Rosenfeld (talk) 21:04, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, as with Dhammasangani, my imagination as to what other forms of titles someone might have used was inadequate. Obviously these 2 should be merged. In this case there may be some useful information to transfer. I'll have a look when I have time, perhaps, but I don't even know the techniques for moving material between articles. Isn't the other spelling commoner? has anyone checked? Peter jackson (talk) 08:09, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sri Lanka or Not Sri Lanka[edit]

"The Milinda Pañha does not appear in the Thai or Sri Lankan versions of the Pāli Canon, however."

vs.

"[...] apart from the Sri Lankan Pali edition and its derivatives, no other copies are known."

Earcanal (talk) 17:16, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It does not appear in the Sri Lankan versions of the Pāli Canon because it is a paracanonical text. Sarita Khettry states that "... its Pali version survived in Sri Lanka". Sarita Khettry (2007). BUDDHISM OF THE NORTH-WEST AND THE MILINDA-PANHA, Proceedings of the Indian History Congress Vol. 68, Part One, pp. 105-111 (see p. 105) JimRenge (talk) 01:30, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps not related, but I'd rephrase as collections or editions of the Pāli Canon. Versions is used not much in this context, and might imply an original Pali Canon, which is disputed.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 05:52, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Farang Rak Tham, please feel free to rephrase it. I think the quote farm in the "Menander I" section should be reduced per WP:PRIMARY. JimRenge (talk) 11:40, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Earcanal, do you understand it now, after i rephrased it?--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 15:31, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Clearer, and interesting! Thanks. Earcanal (talk) 16:48, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
