The refimprove tag[edit]

5 sources, two of which aren't valid valid, seems too little for an article this large. Entire sections are uncited. Will probably be a lot of effort to fix this issue. Zvory (talk) 20:34, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just some area that could be covered[edit]

This is a massive topic. Notes to myself and others on some items that could be mentioned: Boer Wars, Carthaginians (and Phoenician settlement on north coast), Numidians, Lybians, military culture of the San and Khoikhoi, Nok military, kingdom of mali, post-colonial century military conflicts and revolutions (Ethiopia (eg Ogaden War), Somalia, Rwanda (Genocide etc) etc), nomadic raiding (Tuaregs and others), Bantu expansion, Vandals in 5th century after fall of Rome, African muslim conquests of Spain and southern Europe, African theatre in the Second World War - Rommel and El Alamein, Mau Mau rebellion, Zulu War against British, etc, etc, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PocklingtonDan (talkcontribs) on 12 November 2006

  • Much of this now done by regions. IZAK 12:01, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dealing with African history by regions[edit]

Students of African history, politics and geography usually divide the study of this continent by regions because each region is unique in terms of its climate, peoples, cultures, and the influences of geography all which create speciall circumstances, much as the history and nature of Eastern Europe is far different to the history and nature of Western Europe, and similarly Southern Europe is far different to Northern Europe, just that in Africa there is far more of both territory and raw oceans. Likewise with the Americas, theere are good reasons to differentiate between North, South, and Central America. Doing things by region also avoids the arbitrary trap of imposing a POV value system of "pro" or "anti" this-that-and-the-other period, ideology, religion or whatever the bee in one one's bonnet may happen to be. Fair use rationale for Image:Chad gunmen.jpg[edit]

Image:Chad gunmen.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Tirailleurs Sénégalais, Africans in WWII, etc.[edit]

Sorry, I think this is still very superficial. I also miss the Tirailleurs Sénégalais. And Africans were present in many WWII battles, for instance in Bir Hakeim. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.131.242.101 (talk) 16:04, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
