Starting the Article[edit]

Well, numerous reasons compelled me- but that's not important. Due to the relatively sad-sized libraries in my small town, I don't have much access to books discussing specific topics such as Jalowaz, or any of the red-links. I know a considerably large amount on Hungary, but I am not fully learned on some topics. I also could use the assistance of someone who speaks decent hungarian to find the hungarian equivalent of the page to cooperate. They could defintely add some insight and perspective. Some how always available, --Evan 23:41, 7 September 2006 (UTC).[reply]

This is a very good article start. I suggest to expand this article by merging the sections from "Ancient and medieval military" to "After the Cold War" from the article Military of Hungary and the whole article Honvédség into this one. noclador 11:51, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

I began translating the Hungarian equivalent of this article to English. I have a few questions about aesthetics though: first of all, should I cite the same sources as the Hungarian article does, or consider that article the source?
I won't touch the introduction for now, but I'll move its contents to the appropriate topics as I progress with the translation and replace it with a more general introduction, if that's OK with you. I'd also like to add a brief history of the national defense, being the most recent part of the military history of Hungary (ideas stolen from the Hungarian article :) ) Umm... is national defense the right expression for "honvédség"? :)
EDIT: Oh, I see now, sorry about that. I am by no means an expert in the history of Hungary, even less in the English terminology of this topic, but I hope my translation will make a reasonable basis for further improvements. Abesto 12:44, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article is exceptionally biased, up to and including accusing western historians of "betraying" the Hungarians for calling them raiders. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.233.112.3 (talk) 07:37, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, if anyone could help with this articile page, people such as myself would much appreciate it. I do know for a fact that the Magyar armies of the 9th and 10th century were indeed an elite force, but the page needs to look more professional and not biased. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.186.72.183 (talk) 02:26, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

bloggish non-peer reviewed website - definitely NOT a Reliable Source[edit]

"hungarianhistory.com" is a private website, and has already been delisted as an RS on other Wiki articles - please do not use this as a source of material for the article - thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.111.31.62 (talk) 18:33, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
