Sources[edit]

Hi, I don't think that www.WorldHistory.Biz is a reliable source, which is the standard we use on Wikipedia to determine if a source can be used. Generally, personal websites and blogs are not considered reliable unless they are published by someone who has already been published reliably (for example having written a book on the subject which was published by a reputable publishing house). I suggest getting access to books like this and this to help expand and better source the article. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Peacemaker67, in addition, this article is a copy-paste move from Draft:Military history of Nigeria during WWII, so, now should we request for a history merge? Or, should we just outright delete this article, given that it probably is not ready for mainspace just yet. Yep, requesting a history merge is probably the best way to deal with this, although the previous history is pretty minimal. In future, J.Hohne, if you have been working on an article in draftspace (Draft:) or userspace (User:) and want to move it to article space, don't copy and paste the contents, just use the normal move article how-to guide, which will then retain the editing history of the draft in the live article. I'm looking forward to seeing how this article develops. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 05:36, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have performed the histmerge now. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 13:41, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Historical Gaps[edit]

Hey folks, I've really appreciated all of the input and feedback for this article. I just have a few thoughts to share about writing this article, which I hope people find interesting.

Wikipedia as a has a major gap in its coverage of Non-Western Experiences. The lack of this article's existence before around 2 months ago sort of proves this point, and links to another historical issue: the experiences of Africans throughout WWII is sorely under-represented in written work. Nigeria is the sixth largest country on earth population wise, so the lack of an article on its WWII history, or a section within the main Nigeria Article is really a major gap.

One symptom of this issue is the relative scarcity of easily accessible primary documents on the internet, and particularly those that meet Wikipedia's criteria for being free to access. I just want to invite anyone interested, to try and imporve the source coverage, and content of this article.

G'day, thanks for your efforts so far. I have performed a very quick copy edit, and marked a few places where I think more references are required. Once you have completed referencing the article, I would suggest potentially listing it for a more thorough copy edit over at WP:GOCE. Anyway, all the best. Yes, it is indeed a worthwhile and overdue article. The sight of those brave young men, preparing to risk their lives fighting alongside their colonialist overseers for the greater good, is heart-rending. I've made numerous suggestions for simplification and clarity. – AndyFielding (talk) 02:25, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
