Milden, AngusMillden – The Ordnance Survey and Gazetteer for Scotland call this place "Millden" (with "Milden" not getting any results) rather than "Milden". In any case per WP:NATURAL this also avoids the need to qualify it. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:16, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak support, "weak" because the rationale is a bit WP:OFFICIALNAMEy, however the article also states it is an "estate", so the use of "Millden" specifically for the estate can also apply [1][2][3][4] (this source, this and this linking the shooting controversy with an estate in "Glenesk", Glenesk being a few miles west of this article's coords, and all using "Millden") while physically the lodge near the coords from the article does spell it "Millden".[5] All the sources I find with "Milden" seem a bit Wiki-y, except this 1878 image, which even lists the location as "Millden (Milden)". The Ordnance Survey is normally regarded as the most authoritative source for common names of places though that may be less so outside England. Also the GFS is an encyclopedia so I don't think again that's referring to official names rather than common names. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:19, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, from Wales, dispute the notion they are entirely correct all the time, with few cases that the names they use and media do not match. So prefer WP:COMMONNAME being more clearly met using secondary sources, just so any errors OS makes doesn't override common use. But using the OS, as you say because it is "the most authoritative" seems still a bit OFFICIALNAMEy. Not disputing GFS as much, but still a more tightly-controlled source prone to errors as they state. DankJae 01:56, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to find additional sources but couldn't which is why I only went by the 2 listed. It isn't on the Scottish Parliament placenames for example, not being an OS settlement I question if this is even notable but otherwise sources for common usage are hard come by. • Support Looks like I started this article in 2010, using the OS as the main reference... must be my misspelling. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 19:45, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
