Translation from Chinese version[edit]

If someone has the time, please translate the information from the Chinese version of the article - zh:百萬人民倒扁運動. - Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 23:01, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK. And I think this English version also can help imporving Chinese version.--Littlebtc 17:18, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I translated the first two sections from the Chinese Wikipedia with my expansion. I'm not sure the rest are important (they deal with response, controversy etc.) and I'm no good at translating. Anyway if somebody thinks they're good for the article put them in as well. Aran|heru|nar 05:34, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the more proper title would be: "Anti-Chen campaign" (倒扁運動) or "Anti-corruption campaign" (反貪腐運動).--Jerry 20:36, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The current title sounds more like a slogan or something, I think it should be changed.--Jerry 17:18, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MRT[edit]

The line about the MRT running until AM1:00 instead of AM4:00 is unclear. Does the MRT not usually close well before AM4:00? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.112.129.75 (talkcontribs) 2006-09-17 18:24:22

FYI, During a normal day the final trains usually leave all the terminal stations at 0:00am, meaning that the service will end up sometime before or after 1:00am (depending on which line the train runs). Thus, despatching the final trains around 1:00am is already an extension of service.--SElefant 14:29, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

can someone add more picture into the article?[edit]

I don't how to add picture into the article so could someone help me? http://news.sina.com.tw/articles/14/16/53/14165349.html?/politics/20060919.html http://news.webs-tv.net/index.php?type=content&id=480575 http://www.ettoday.com/2006/09/17/301-1992057.htm http://www.ettoday.com/newspic/1048/i1048465.jpg http://www.ettoday.com/newspic/1048/i1048475.jpg http://news.hakkatv.com.tw/2006/09/17/11382-1992237.htm

First of all, we are not allowed to upload any pictures without rights from the press, so that basically excludes all of them, so it wouldn't be a good idea to add those pictures in the first place.--Bakahito 16:23, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Second, see Wikipedia:Uploading images for a guide on how to upload images and which images to upload. To find suitable images to upload you might also want to read Wikipedia:Finding images tutorial. Goodluck.Aran|heru|nar 14:38, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edition of the article - Someone delete my words[edit]

I edited the articles according to the news. Please don't delete my words because they are real events. Last time I edited something, someone delete them. Please leave them there. However, they are subjected to minor changes. Thank You.

Division of titles[edit]

I divided the main article into sections to make it clear. Also, it will be good if someone can fulfill the to-dp list. Chris 01:24, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please cite[edit]

Please cite your sources and watch POV. This article appears biased, but I will hold on further comments until I see citations.

You are right, it does look biased. 71.146.177.125 06:43, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Surely the title of this article should refer to the 'Million Voices... Campaign', rather than merely repeat the slogan? --Samf-nz 17:46, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article is massively biased. For example, the 5.8% popularity claim in the opening for Chen Shui-bian is based on a totally bogus poll from the TSU. The entire article is ridiculous anti-Chen tripe and requires substantial re-editing. 218.162.158.119 13:46, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Michael Turton[reply]

I've rewritten the introduction to give more background on Shih himself, and also some of the other claims. 218.162.158.119 14:32, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Michael Turton[reply]

All of Michael Turton's Edits should be reversed. It is obvious to anyone who reads the article that he is merely impressing his opinions onto Wikipedia. 10:40, 28 October 2007 (UTC) Eraye1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eraye1 (talkcontribs)

Regardless there is a huge problem with citing sources or simply citing a source but writing something totally different in the hopes that the reader won't bother to check. Anyone well versed in logical fallacies can see a whole slew of examples here. This article is essentially propaganda and leaves out much meaningful information. For instance, Shih has since retired from the campaign and there has been controversy over what was done with the millions left over in campaign funds. There was also lots of concern because of Shih's criticism against the very KMT leaders that backed his campaign. Of course that is excluded from the article even though it was big news. We have to show all sides of the story, not just what one side may promote it as is. We know propaganda when we see it, there is a lot of it on Wikipedia, and this is nothing but more of that. --24.193.80.232 (talk) 03:39, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of the Ending and Failure section[edit]

I think it is justified to delete the entire Ending and Failure section as it bring nothing encyclopedic to the article. Also it lacks sources and it is full of unwarranted claims and original research. If anyone here want to discuss this deletion, you are welcome to join the discussion. Chris! my talk 21:49, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article name?[edit]

Has the English title of this campaign changed? A news article dated 30 July still seems to refer to it by the original name:[1] "Million Voices Against Corruption - President Chen Must Go". Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 16:41, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think Anti-Chen Campaign is good. Cause the campaign turned out to be anti-Chen after all, and not anti-corruption. The old name is so long, I think it can be included in the article as the slogan or something.--203.64.247.100 06:45, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a reliable source to say that the English name for this campaign has been changed to "Anti-Chen Campaign"? I know that it is described as an anti-Chen campaign. But what is its English name? As I've posted above, a news article dated as late as 30 July calls this campaign by the article's original name. If no sources can be found to support this new name, I'll be changing the article name back to its original name. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 06:52, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if these sites are eligible:[2][3][4]--203.64.247.100 12:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And here's one more from the same site your where your source is from:[5]
They only describe the campaign as an anti-Chen campaign though. Notice how if it appears in the middle of the sentence, "anti" is not capitalised. It's not being used as a name. And the second link you gave me is a blog which actually named it with the old article name. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 14:09, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
