Minerva University → Minerva Schools at KGI – The name of this for-profit university is not "Minerva University," but "Minerva Schools at KGI," as evidenced in the following recent news articles:

On its website the university also calls itself "Minerva Schools at KGI," and never "Minerva University": https://minerva.kgi.edu/about/

There are no reliable sources for the name "Minerva University," whereas there are several articles from the last twelve months that call this university "Minerva Schools at KGI." Geecee48 (talk) 17:02, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Accreditation[edit]

I removed the text added today: "A partnership with the Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont, California, allowed Minerva to fast-track its accreditation." This is self-serving talk by Minerva. It cites as source for this the Atlantic article of September, 2014. On the Web site of kgi: http://www.kgi.edu/news-and-events/feature-stories/2013/kgi-to-partner-with-minerva-project.html it says that "Minerva is following one of the established paths to accreditation". As I read it, this means that it is on a path to accreditation, but is not yet accredited.

KGI, according to its Web site, is accredited by the regional accrediting body Western (Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges). You can see Western's accreditation handbooks at http://www.wascsenior.org/resources/handbook-accreditation-2013 . It says, among other things, that "Scholarship, creative activity, and curricular and instructional innovation for both students and faculty valued and supported". This would not seem to apply to Minerva, where faculty scholarship is not supported. In fact there is a lot in Western's "2013 Standards at a Glance" (linked on the above referenced page) that seems not to apply to Minerva.deisenbe (talk) 03:25, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's an online university[edit]

An editor using multiple accounts, including MinervaUni, has been removing "online" from the description of this university. This is in direct contradiction to what is written in the article and supported by the sources cited in the article (e.g., this Atlantic article). If there is information to the contrary, this editor is invited to (a) provide evidence that a change has occurred and (b) edit the rest of the article so that it's consistent with their claims that this isn't an online university.

Additionally, if this editor is directly associated with the university then they are reminded to abide by our conflict of interest policies and practices and, if applicable, our policies related to paid editing. ElKevbo (talk) 22:12, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
