Contested deletion

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... It is a Minimonos Wikipedia site that is being created for the website http://Minimonos.com, just like how Club Penguin has one --ZeldaZach (talk) 20:54, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Please familiarize yourself with our inclusion guidelines for websites. Just because Wikipedia has an article on Club Penguin doesn't mean a similar page is warranted for a much smaller outfit like I get the impression Minimonos is. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 21:03, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Are you now suggesting the article be deleted on grounds of non-notability? – JBarta (talk) 21:20, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Basically, notability is the measurement of the existence, or lack thereof, of reliable third-party sources covering the subject at hand. While we can't evaluate notability without a Google search, there comes importance, which I interpret as the measurement, within the article as it appears, of whether or not one should bother with a Google search to establish notability. Right now, I see a description of a website and nothing to state its popularity, or, more importantly, whether it has ever received any attention from independent reviewers, though it seems elaborate enough that it's only a matter of time before reviews come in. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 21:35, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Contested deletion

Wikipedia has many articles devoted entirely to one game. This article is written in a reasonably encyclopedic and non-promotional way though it could stand some copyediting (made a few minor edits myself). For the moment, I have no objection to it remaining, though editors of the article should keep in mind that it is their job to describe the game in a limited and neutral fashion... not to promote it by wedging in every little bit they can. – JBarta (talk) 21:17, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

I have removed the {{db-spam}} tag after having completely rewritten the article. I believe its neutrality is now in better shape. Based on the amount of coverage I was able to find (especially given the company's recent successful capital-raising effort), I don't think notability is really an issue. Thanks for the help Barta. I didn't finish this page yet, but in order to have the proper photos added, I needed to publish to a real page. I'll be adding more information about the actual game over the next few days. ZeldaZach (talk) 22:28, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Contested deletion

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... The page was previously on /Minimonos on the English wikipedia and was approved to stay, but the link just needed an upper M so we put it on this one instead. What's the exact issue with using the new link? Thanks! --ZeldaZach (talk) 05:42, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure it was "approved to stay" just yet, but I moved the deletion discussions from the old talk page to this one. Futher discussion can continue here. – JBarta (talk) 06:44, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Jbarta, can you tell me what I should do to make this page stay? I don't find it violating the rules, as it's explaining the game/features and about the staff. ZeldaZach (talk) 06:58, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I do see that someone did remove the db-spam template from the old article... that's why you feel it was "approved to stay". Apparently someone still has an issue with the article and put it back in... though the reasons have changed a little. I would suggest making an attempt to address the issue raised in this current deletion request ("Article contains a number of cut-pastes from the Minimonos website, and is not encyclopedic") and see how it goes. – JBarta (talk) 07:09, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
I would suggest that the sections "MiniMonos People" and "Child safety issues" could be eliminated entirely. – JBarta (talk) 07:15, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
I have removed the "MiniMonos People" as this seemed to pander a bit to the creation team. I have moved mention of the notable developers involved to the history section. As for the "Child safety issues", this was my idea. Although the section title may be questionable, I believe the material is relevant as this is a game aimed at children, and these safety concerns have been the subject of several of the reviews I have read about the game. Thanks for the help you guys. I was just thinking of ideas to put on, but I'm A-OK if you found something that wasn't appropriate for the Wikipedia page :) ZeldaZach (talk) 15:27, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
