Why does Manitoba has its own Immigration Minister[edit]

Why does Manitoba have its own Immigration Minister. I mean shouldn't it be the sole responsibility in Canada of the national government. 220.239.167.151 (talk) 22:19, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, overall immigration policy is still held by the federal government but a number of Canadian provinces do have a position in cabinet for dealing with immigration issues in the province. However, there not really major cabinet positions, usually coupled with another department, like in Manitoba where it's tied in with labour. Cmr08 (talk) 18:42, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
