Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because this is a completely new article, with new content (In fact, I couldn't find the old article, although it would have been useful to have). The concerns about notability have been addressed. Minto has had many feature articles about it in the Ottawa Citizen (for instance this article), and extensive coverage in the Ottawa Business Journal (e.g. this article). There has also been coverage in sources further afield, such as the Globe and Mail (see ref), Canadian Business (see ref), BuilderOnline.com (see ref), the Orlando Business Journal (see [1]), and the Toronto Star (see [2]). There are also around 20 articles linking to this one, including 2 articles about buildings built by Minto - it is hardly an orphan. I also wish to point out that a previous AfD closed as keep, and the most recent AfD didn't include anyone from the previous AfD in the discussion. --Mparrault (talk) 01:30, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus on the 2017 AfD was not that sources did not exist, but rather that said sources failed WP:CORPDEPTH. Also, the first AfD was in 2006.--SamHolt6 (talk) 01:48, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the original article had the sources I quote; quite possibly, it had no independent sources at all. Going through the criteria at WP:CORPDEPTH:
  • Depth of Coverage: None of the sources I quote are merely trivial (I admit the Globe and Mail story is somewhat close to the line). The Ottawa Citizen has had several feature articles about Minto.
  • Audience: The Globe and Mail, Canadian Business, BuilderOnline.com, and the Toronto Star all have a national audience (somewhat delicately for the Toronto Star). IMO, the Ottawa Citizen a regional paper as well.
  • Independence of sources: I think all of the sources I listed are independent. Some of the sources seem a bit too promotional to be independent, but the major newspapers (e.g. Ottawa Citizen, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail) are certainly independent.

As for the original AfD being in 2006, notability isn't temporary. Is there some other reason why age matters? - Mparrault (talk) 02:38, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
