Personifications of evil[edit]

Could whomever keeps puttig this character in that category please give a rationale as to why?66.24.236.62 01:18, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well I only put Miranda in it once [or maybe twice]. I rather thought she belonged in it because after all the title does refer to her as 'the Devil' and she is widely thought of to be an incarnation of evil due to her sadistic and heartless tendencies. But if you don't want her in there then alright, I won't put her back in.

Incorrect info - "both are native Londoners"[edit]

Streep played the character as an American, which has been cited in articles and which is obviously given the American accent in her performance. I question this line in the article and propose its deletion.NYDCSP 20:35, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh wait, I now read it more completely (while watching the film over the top of the laptop screen) and realize this was an idiotic proposal I made. Lol. This time I'll leave this mistake up for the world to see here on the talk page rather than delete it in shame. Maybe I'll learn to read better. NYDCSP 20:37, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anna Wintour[edit]

The article makes too much of Miranda's similarities to Wintour and not enough of her own personal character. Remember whilst possibly being modelled on the editor-in-chief of Vogue, Miranda is very much a character in her own right.

True enough, but much more so of the film. I would say, having done as much work on Anna Wintour as I have, that the book's character has a great deal more traits in common ... the eating habits in particular (Wintour apparently has absolutely no problem being seen with a huge Starbucks latte while she's waiting for a show to start). I see. I've added in a few little bits in the film section of the article you'll notice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.145.241.241 (talk)

Merge/redirect[edit]

Since this article has been tagged for over a year and no discussion about its merging has taken place, I will redirect it to The Devil Wears Prada (novel) in the next week or so. Pinkadelica 06:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Support merge. Since there was no opposition and improvement of the article to prove notability, I have performed the merge. --LoЯd ۞pεth 05:39, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Separated article. Miranda Priestly is one of the most famous film characters of the modern cinema and numerous reliable sources back up the claim. A basic Google search shows it all. Since Wikipedia has articles for significantly less notable movie/novel characters, not having an article of Miranda Priestly would be totally irrational and it's not Other stuff exists I'm talking about WP:FA and WP:GA as Wikipedia's superior articles which could be referred as a pattern. Support merge - no real world notability. Not every character in every film is notable. Onel5969 TT me 16:57, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Onel5969: It's not a random film character. Miranda Priestly defiantly has equal notability to Edna Mode and even more famous. Bi-on-ic (talk) 17:50, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
WP:OSE is not a valid argument in this case. Right now consensus is not to have a separate article. Onel5969 TT me 18:00, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I already said it's not Other stuff. Edna Mode is a WP:GA so it can't be wrong if it is then the whole Wikipedia policies come into question since they chose an article of a cartoon character that doesn't have the required notability as a 'good article'. Bi-on-ic (talk) 18:30, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As for required notability surely the fact that Meryl Streep portrayed the character which gave her an academy award nomination for best actress would make Miranda Priestly noted. 79th Oscars in 2007 – she did win a Golden Globe Pauseypaul (talk) 15:48, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You're not going to believe this. The British comedy-mystery series "Death in Paradise" had a character named Miranda Priestly in one of it's episodes. She was mentioned a few times before her appearance in the episode. In a lot of ways, she was a lot worse than the character in The Devil Wore Prada" because she dealt in drugs. Could you guys use this on your Wikipedia page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8800:6200:AAC0:4548:62D1:32BF:6089 (talk) 09:21, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
