Hi RAJIVVASUDEV. This article is currently too short for DYK, I count 1245 characters outside of the bullet point list. The grammar and wording need tightening up too. For example it is superfluous to say "The 1968 Pageant was a live telecast on Television" or "Kathryn Gromatski was the first Miss Wool in year 1952. Hi RV, I've added the missing cite and reorganised the article a bit. Hopefully you don't mind? By doing so I've probably become too involved in the article so I'll request a new reviewer - Dumelow (talk) 18:19, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On hold: Article is new enough, long enough, neutral, well-cited, and with no copyvio detected. Hooks are formatted, of good length and cited in article. They're not the most interesting hooks I've seen, but it's a short article and I'm going to pass them. A possible (but not definite) problem is QPQ. From the nominator's talk page they appear to have at least five nominations older than this one, though only one nomination made it to the Main Page so far (thus only one shows from QPQ check). From the sixth nomination onwards, you are required to complete a DYK review for QPQ. Unless you are going to withdraw one of those earlier nominations, I feel that you should submit a QPQ for this one. – Reidgreg (talk) 00:56, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

- @RAJIVVASUDEV: Thanks for providing the QPQ! Hoo boy, that one you reviewed is not at all ready at this time. It's only one-third of the minimum prose size, there are serious tone issues and only two sources. I feel that there's potential in the subject material, and I hope you will keep an eye on it for the next few days in case the nominator gets it up to scratch (they've got until 22 Sep before "new enough" time runs out), but yeah, as it stands it's nowhere near a pass. – Reidgreg (talk) 04:45, 16 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I, Gayle Hudgens, HAPPEN TO HAVE WON THE 1961 MISS WOOL OF AMERICA CONTEST. I have AN ARTICLE THAT SO INDICATES. You may contact me at aghudgens@earthlink.net I can email you the article in The Key (magazine of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, of which I was a member through the Gamma Beta chapter at UNM). The article is on page 53. THE_KEY_VOL_78_NO_4_WINTER_1961-4 is the web address but it may be private for all but members. I do have a pdf I made that I can send you. In the meantime, here is a rough version:

"Pert and perky Gayle Hudgens, returned to the New Mexico campus this fall to continue her interrupted college days. Selected as the emissary of the Wool industry, Gayle has spent the past spring and summer touring the country as Miss Wool of America, 1961. When visiting Fraternity Headquarters during her tour, Gayle said, "The Gamma Betas [of Kappa Kappa Gamma] entered me in the New Mexico -contest as a joke. I was fortunate to win and get a chance at the national title." She almost didn't get a chance at the title as she fell and twisted her leg badly trying to answer a telephone at the Gamma Beta house, and only got off crutches the week of the judging. On a 3. grade system at New Mexico, Gayle scored a 2.8 during the semester she was preparing for the contest. She has also spent time studying in Argentina in the American Field Service Exchange Student program. As if beauty and brains weren't enough, this young lady has been a ballerina since she was nine and also is an expert seamstress."
