Lack of scholarship[edit]

This article must be read with extreme caution as it contains multiple errors in fact and appears to suffer from a lack of serious research. A cursory examination of the article reveals the "heart" of the writer, but also revealed a lack of sound scholarship at the very least, and at the most, a blatant attempt at falsification. Examining any textbook of First Nations' history, it is clearly established that The Six Nations were allowed to move into Upper Canada for their service during the American Revolution- not the War of 1812. When one makes such a fundamental mistake as mixing up the American Revolution and the War of 1812, one is left to wonder if the author is capable of addressing more complex issues. Further errors abound with regard to the Mississaugas' departure from he Credit River Mission, the circumstances of their obtaining their current home, and even the circumstances of the Toronto Purchase Settlement. Perhaps with a little care, the author might have researched his/her topic more thoroughly- using both primary and secondary resources and appended a bibliography to this work.

While there is no doubt an obvious bias in this article, the writer should be applauded for making an attempt, albeit a weak one, in which he/she attempts to write a meaningful article about the length and breadth of the history Mississaugas of the Credit. When a writer, even with such weak ability, attempts to do his/her best with such an overwhelming topic in a few inadequate paragraphs, the attempt must be applauded and suggestions made for improvement. Besides working to improve the grammar and vocabulary, I would suggest that the writer make another attempt, but first examine a number of secondary resources to get his/her general bearing bearings on the topic and then move on to examine RG10 files from Library and Archives Canada to examine the primary resources. It should be remembered that passion is no substitute for sound scholarship. Hestandsfirst (talk) 13:51, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
