Redirect[edit]

I changed the redirect from Parts-per notation, which has no information about mixing ratios, to Humidity, which does. MesoCS 22:30, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Link[edit]

I think it would also be appropriate to link this to Air-fuel ratio. It may not be mentioned in the text there, but "mixing ratio" is often used interchangeably with "air-fuel ratio." General sentence[edit]

I think this article lacks a very general sentence to explain what a mixing ratio is. Ambiguities that need clarification[edit]

Right now a section reads:

==Mixtures/solutions mixing ratio==

Two binary solutions of different compositions can be mixed with various mixing ratios by masses, moles, or volumes.

The mass fraction of the resulting solution from mixing solutions with mass fractions w₁ and w₁ is given by:

w={\frac {w_{1}m_{1}+w_{2}m_{1}r_{m}}{m_{1}+m_{1}r_{m}}}

or, by substituting the densities and considering equal volumes of different concentrations

w={\frac {w_{1}\rho _{1}(w_{1})+w_{2}\rho _{2}(w_{2})}{\rho _{1}(w_{1})+\rho _{2}(w_{2})}}

The formula can be extended to more than 2 solutions to be mixed giving:

w={\frac {w_{1}m_{1}+w_{2}m_{1}r_{m}1+w_{3}m_{1}r_{m}2}{m_{1}+m_{1}r_{m}+m_{1}r_{m}2}}

Several clarifications are needed:

The section title, and in particular the use of the slash(/) are unclear. Is the section title intended to mean "Mixing ratio of solutions"?
In the second equation, the functions $\rho _{1}$ and $\rho _{2}$ need to be defined.
In the last equation, are $r_{m}1$ and $r_{m}2$ supposed to be $r_{m1}$ and $r_{m2}$ ? If so, you can check the source code of my talk entry here to see how to get it to display that way.
In the last denominator, is $r_{m}$ . intended to be $r_{m1}$ ?

Connections needed to apparent volume and volume fraction/concentration[edit]

It is useful (I think) to include to article the relations between mixing ratios of solutions (both mass and volume ones) and volume fractions of components on one hand and on the other hand between mixing ratios and volume apparent molar property.--82.137.12.253 (talk) 15:32, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

symbol ξ ?[edit]
