Birthday and place[edit]

@Mewulwe: The sources I have indicated in my edits specify the date and place of birth. This source is written in Somali, but when we translate the beginning using Google Translate, it says, "He was born in Bender Bayla on July 1, 1937, and passed away in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, February 8, 2017." It is very clear. What was the problem? Your comment "circular" means that the source I showed is written based on Wikipedia?--Freetrashbox (talk) 11:01, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That must be presumed if no earlier source can be found. The date was added to Wikipedia ("I knew him personally") on 9 February 2017, prior to your source (14 February 2017). Mewulwe (talk) 11:52, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That explanation does not prove that Puntlandpost referred to Wikipedia.--Freetrashbox (talk) 12:45, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And the Puntlandpost article states that he was born in Bender Bayla. This information is not included in the Wikipedia article at the time. There is other information that is not included in Wikipedia at that time. How would you explain this?--Freetrashbox (talk) 12:52, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In general in such cases, the information is very likely taken from Wikipedia and the burden of proof should be on the claim that it wasn't. You're right that the Bender Bayla bit gives it some credence here, although the mere presence of other information not included in Wikipedia does not prove that the entire article is independent of it; it could have been assembled from various sources including Wikipedia. Mewulwe (talk) 14:17, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have been active on the Japanese Wikipedia for many years, and I have never seen such a rule (the source has to be written before the Wikipedia article), nor have I ever had such a point made to me. Please let me know the page where the rule is written.--Freetrashbox (talk) 20:31, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just common sense, otherwise you get a large share of false, Wikipedia-originated information circularly sourced. If you want to ignore that, I can't stop you. Mewulwe (talk) 10:33, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I will edit the article according to my idea.--Freetrashbox (talk) 10:38, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
