The Wolf[edit]

The radio station The Wolf is now 102.3, not 104.7. I suck at Wikipedia entries so if someone could change it that would be great Ryan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.53.88.143 (talk) 20:34, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stub status[edit]

Anyone object to removing the stub tag on this article? It may not be fully fleshed out, but there's a fair amount of detail in it now. | Keithlaw 22:32, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No objection from me, Go ahead and remove it. Misterrick 00:38, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Article Revamp[edit]

Any comments, praises or criticisms about my revamping of the Mohegan Sun article tonight would be appreciated. Misterrick 06:54, 19 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Minor Correction[edit]

To my last revert, Apparently I wasn't looking at an updated edit list and I thought the server might have hiccupped but it didn't it was vandalism by User:64.92.174.42. If someone could please put a block on that user because if you look at the edit history you will see that they have history of attacking this page. Misterrick 06:10, 23 September 2005 (UTC).[reply]

They were blocked. If it happens again, the thing to do, according to Wikipedia:Dealing_with_vandalism#Dealing_with_vandalism, is to post warnings on their talk page, then (if it requires immediate attention and they ignore the warnings) go to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and report it there. Vandals that don't require immediate attention should be reported at Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress instead. --Aquillion 16:55, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Also, for a repeat vandal like this who was warned in the past and just keeps coming back from the same IP and making the same vandalisms as soon as their block expires, without any constructive edits to their name, you can just report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism without wasting time warning them again. Wikipedia:Assume good faith has its limits. --Aquillion 05:41, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Disagreement on most recent edit[edit]

The most recent (legitimate) edit removed the following sentence from the article:

In 2000 Trading Cove Associates gave complete control of the resort to the Mohegan tribe; Kerzer International remains a TCA shareholder and will still receive a 5% dividend on the gross revenue generated by Mohegan Sun until 2014.

I'm not sure why that doesn't belong here. Certainly the question of who controls & operates the resort belongs in the article, and who's profiting from it would also seem to be germane. Before I revert it, I'd like to see if anyone has any comments. | Keithlaw 20:50, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Responding to my own comment, would it make sense to have separate articles for Mohegan Sun the resort/casino and for Mohegan Sun the corporate entity that runs it? | Keithlaw 21:58, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No because it doesn't make to sense to do it that way because if there were two articles its very likely that most of the information would be redundant, So I suggest keeping the article as is. Misterrick 00:23, 01 August 2005 UTC).
Avoiding redundancy wouldn't be hard. The article on the corporation would be limited to ownership, financial info, a list of properties, etc. Then the article on the resort & casino could just mention that it's owned by Company X and its contents would only include information on the property itself. If the parent company is going to continue to acquire more properties, this division will eventually become necessary. | Keithlaw 00:26, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I should also point out that the person who keeps changing the page on the premise that it is "Nonsense" is not actually concerned with the page's content they are in actuality a habitual Wikipedia vandal and their opinion should not be taken seriously. In my humble opinion they are trying to influence Wikipedia users by bullying them into making unnecessary changes by vandalizing the page over and over and over again until users get sick of reverting the changes and end up leaving the page as the vandal wants. Misterrick 00:33, 01 August 2005 (UTC).[reply]
I'm fully aware of what the vandal is doing, and I'm in no mood to appease him. I raised the objection because the article itself does not flow. Right now, the article has four paragraphs. The first one has some info on the casino/resort and some on the company. The second is about the resort. The third is about the casino. And the fourth is about the company again and feels "tacked on." And that's it, other than the silly but harmless driving distances section. (All of which makes it funny that the vandal picked this article of all the ones on Wikipedia to attack.) It needs some more meat; a history of the creation of the casino would be one possible addition. But splitting it in two would allow us to separate the business stuff (which one experienced Wikipedian didn't seem to like) from the casino stuff. I'm not saying we have to implement my suggestion, but I wanted to clarify so it was clear that it has nothing to do with our foul-mouthed vandal. | Keithlaw 00:26, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ok this is what I did, I moved the information about the acquisition of Pocono Downs Racetrack to the first part of the article which is primarily the business aspect of the Mohegan Sun, I then deleted the info about the Poker Room being closed, I think at this point most people who are already are aware that its been closed for 2 years. I also changed the Distances/Driving Times just down to Driving Times, I realize now that this Wikipedia article really doesn't need to give such pinpoint information. Please let me know if these changes make the article look more uniform. Misterrick 04:03, 9 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the December 11 Raw comment stating that this was the first WWE Raw from Mohegan Sun. WWE has broadcast Raw live in the past, including in January 2004 (a match cleverly titled Raw Roulette took place and August 2005.). {{User:Feverfive[Feverfie]] 17:43, 16 December 2006.

Travel times[edit]

Vegaswiki, In one of your edits you state "driving times belong in a travel guide and are not notable". Ok, I have to disagree with you on this one. I feel that it provides a strong piece of information directly pertaining to the property. Misterrick

Yes it is information about the property. However, what encylopedia lists travel times to buildings? Travel guides contain this type of information. Searching wikipedia for "travel times" yields 121 matches most of which talk about "travel times" in a general way and not about the time to reach a location. Vegaswikian 07:57, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Vegaswikian. The travel times were harmless, but not really encyclopedic. It's something any interested user could find in under a minute via any major mapping site. | Keithlaw 14:20, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mohegansun1.gif[edit]

Image:Mohegansun1.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:02, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Size of Mohegan Sun[edit]

In terms of actual gaming space, Mohegan sun remains the largest casino in the world. The Sands Macau casino is the world largest in terms of gaming tables, but clearly falls short of Mohegan Sun's 364,000 sq ft. with Sands having 229,000 sq. ft.129.133.141.159 (talk) 18:52, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Per the references, this is really two casinos, correct? There is a discussion here about similar issues at many of the vegas casinos where we have a similar concern. However there is no resolution there one way or the other. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:16, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Planetarium-like domed ceiling[edit]

A couple of weeks ago, I modified the description of the domed ceiling "sky effect" over the cocktail bar as follows: "The Casino of the Sky has a planetarium-like domed ceiling utilizing fiber optics to display the sun, moon, and stars (though not in actual star patterns), accompanying the lighting effects of the Wombi Rock..."

It was previously: "The Casino of the Sky has a functional planetarium utilizing fiber optics to display the sun, moon, and stars accompanying the lighting effects of the Wombi Rock..."

Someone has reverted the test to the previous version. Referring to this "sky effect" as a "functional planetarium" is seriously misleading. It is not a planetarium in any normal modern sense of the word. It does not display the constellations of the night sky, instead showing essentially random star patterns (though there is one effect that roughly resembles the Big Dipper). The "sky effect" is a fixed display, incapable of showing changes in the sky, such as the motions of the planets through the year, the seasons, or even the daily motions of the stars, always an essential component of any "functional planetarium". It is a "domed ceiling sky effect" --not a "functional planetarium". It is also not equipped for any "full dome" displays which have lately become a component of actual "functional planetariums". I will revert the edit for the moment to attract attention to this 'Talk' item.184.198.100.142 (talk) 21:27, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Further on the above, visit the Wikipedia article for "planetarium". None of the features listed in the first paragraph are found in the ceiling effect at Mohegan Sun. Also, visit the International Planetarium Society/APLF list here:
http://www.aplf-planetariums.info/en/. This is a comprehensive list of planetariums worldwide. Select the USA and then scroll down to Connecticut. Tewnty-five planetariums are listed in CT. The "ceiling" at Mohegan Sun is not listed simply because it is not a "functional planetarium" as previously described here. It is fair to say that it is like a planetarium. 184.219.18.22 (talk) 20:40, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
