2nd lead[edit]

I have moved the second lead from the mainpage to the talkpage. Either one is fine, but they shouldn't both be on the page.AioftheStorm (talk) 22:18, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Molecular pathological epidemiology[edit]

Molecular Pathological Epidemiology (also described as “Molecular Pathologic Epidemiology”; abbreviated as MPE) is an emerging discipline within epidemiology. It is defined as epidemiology of molecular pathology and heterogeneity of disease. As the name implies, MPE represents an interdisciplinary integration of “molecular pathology” and “epidemiology”. As advancement of biotechnology has become rapid since 2000s, disease subtyping by molecular methods has become routine clinical practice and an application of molecular pathology to epidemiology is increasingly widespread.[1][2][3][4] A better understanding of heterogeneity of disease pathogenesis and evolution contributes to elucidation of etiologies of diseases. The MPE approach has become increasingly common in 2010s.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]

Sources[edit]

This article is still using far too many primary sources. Per wp:MEDRS, Wikipedia articles should be beaded on secondary sources! such as peer-reviewed review papers or textbooks. Please seek out such sources, rather than ones authored by the researchers themselves. LeadSongDog come howl! 22:16, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

agreed 100%. this page is hinky, as are the related ones made by the same users. Jytdog (talk) 22:27, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Essay, WP:OR[edit]

This article is basically an essay and needs to be re-written in encyclopedic style. One thing that is grating on me, is the promotional statement that "the MPE paradigm has been globally adopted and in widespread use" following by what used to be about 20 examples of primary sources that some editors claim are examples of researc using the paradigm. This is the definition of original research. What we need, is one or two review articles, which actually say that the MPE paradigm has been globally adopted and in widespread use. Making the claim, and supporting it with examples you dig up is not valid in Wikipedia - it violates the policy, "original research". I have tagged the article and will be working to clean this up over the next week or so. Jytdog (talk) 14:51, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Querying pubmed for

("review"[Publication Type] OR "review literature as topic"[MeSH Terms] OR "review"[All Fields]) AND "Molecular pathological epidemiology"[All Fields] AND (Review[ptyp] AND "2009/08/30"[PDat] : "2014/08/28"[PDat])

finds seven papers, five of which are by Ogino et al. The other two are PMID 22056543 and PMID 22884562, with rather peripheral focus on MPE. Are there other reviews on which to draw? LeadSongDog come howl! 02:05, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
