Personal statement[edit]

this note is an add on (1/1/06) meant to describe a now passed world to those too young to have seen it. i was 11 when mondo cane came out, and so was not allowed to see it, tho i remember the trailers - i believe the trailer included african drums playing with an insistent beat.
at the same time, most towns had what where euphamistically known as "Art Theaters" which showed "nudie" or dirty movies. boys my age would look at the movie ads and take note of the what was playing. of course we never went, we were too young. but in the aftermath of mondo cane, movies with titles like: "mondo freudo" and "freudis sexualis" would show up.
the dirty movie era ended with movies like behing the green door which accompanied the availability of video tape, and the end of the dirty movies business.

Bumfight!![edit]

Are Bumfight and Beach Bumfight tapes Mondo films? Zyxoas (talk to me - I'll listen) 12:57, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No they are not. They are more towards pure exploitation.

List of Mondo films[edit]

The section started out with links to non-existant pages for each film and nearly everyone in it. I killed about half of them. Now I'm wondering if there's really a point. Heck, most of it is clearly in German and many of the titles are in ALL CAPS. I'm guessing the list was pasted from somewhere else, but I couldn't find it. I'll probably just end up cutting the list out all together. Mdbrownmsw 20:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it came from the Italian article. This list is quite incomplete and not in a decent format.Case 21:30, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no mention of "mondo new york"?[edit]

mondo new york doesn't seem to be mentioned here. it was made in 1988 and featured (among other things) a performance by karen finley. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.92.68.224 (talk) 01:49, 8 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Illegal to film executions in the US?[edit]

Quote: Executions done in America were faked, because it is illegal to film live executions there.

I have removed this statement, because I very much doubt that there is a federal law prohibiting the filming of executions, not least because it would be in violation of the first amendment. Please provide proof before reinserting this statement. Maikel (talk) 10:50, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Tree Friends[edit]

I know it is no film, but it uses similar motifs. Worth a mention? --Murata (talk) 21:57, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Cove?[edit]

The 2009 documentary on dolphin hunting seems to fit into the genre. Striking similarity to Shocking Asia. Perhaps more so than any other work. Thoughts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.73.194.122 (talk) 23:31, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gonzo journalism derived from Mondo?[edit]

New person here... Wondering if an experienced editor might consider whether Gonzo journalism got it's name as a variation of Mondo film style/ethos? Would that warrant a link from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonzo_journalism to this Mondo film page? BillD207 (talk) 14:12, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
