The Monitor's face was first shown in GI Combat#274.

Monitor / Watcher[edit]

Would it not be worth mentioning that the Monitor is a DC equivalant to Marvel's Watcher?

I disagree. Other than the habit of watching other characters, both the Monitor and the Watcher have vastly different goals, personalities, and basic characterization. --DoctorWorm7 21:46, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
parhaps 'equivilant' would be the wrong term... The Monitor would best be described as based on The Watcher.--RedKnight 16:59, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Even less of that. Wolfman, in the foreward to the Crisis TPB, says that he concieved of the Monitor as a sort of super-librarian kind of figure. --DoctorWorm7 09:54, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As you wish, but seeing as the words 'Watcher' and 'Monitor' are virtually synonymous, regardless of the vision of the actions or functions, it is difficult to ignore--RedKnight 16:59, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Monitor is The Watcher. 90.134.108.229 (talk) 21:28, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we have a source that says that one based on the other. And mentioning they ahve names with similar means is silly, should we list any character with a name that means "Computer Screen" as well? Duggy 1138 (talk) 02:42, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The watcher just watches but the monitor actually intervenes Shazamwillofgods (talk) 19:24, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Survey[edit]

  • merge even though he is working with alternate versions of himself, isn't this essentially the same character. Same medium, universe, character ect? 66.109.248.114 03:53, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • no merge - The introduction of factions within the Monitors warrants a separate article. --Basique 10:10, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
no merge these are new characters. They are based off an older character, but are distinctly different.--Marhawkman 12:41, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No merge per above. --DrBat 03:53, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No Merge per above. They are indeed new characters, and should be treated as such. ZZ 03:57, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus established as don't merge.~ZytheTalk to me! 21:33, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Crisis03.png[edit]

Image:Crisis03.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Link to Alan Kistler's Guide to the Crisis[edit]

I've removed the link, as the page has moved; also, I couldn't find the article on the new Monitor Duty page http://www.thehutch.com/monitorduty/2006/02/alan-kistlers-list-of-articles.html. Perhaps once they fix it over there we could put it back in. Hope I did this right. Audionaut (talk) 10:55, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ignore me. Found the right link now (http://www.thehutch.com/monitorduty/2005/10/alan-kistlers-guide-to-the-cri.php) and put it back in. Audionaut (talk) 10:58, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
