Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I will use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

Immediate Failures[edit]

  • It is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria -
  • It contains copyright infringements -
  • It has, or needs, cleanup banners that are unquestionably still valid. These include{{cleanup}}, {{POV}}, {{unreferenced}} or large numbers of {{citation needed}}, {{clarify}}, or similar tags. (See also {{QF-tags}}). -
  • It is not stable due to edit warring on the page. -

Links[edit]

  • In the note - The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is technically still not complete.[58] can we not say "technically?" Officially or remove the word entirely. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:54, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    •  Done Although I doubt it will ever be completed... epicgenius (talk) 20:26, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • As a rule of thumb, I dislike the word "technically" in all articles, unless it's a quote. Thanks for changing Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:03, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Prose[edit]

Lede[edit]

General[edit]

  • "place of rushes".[3][4][5][6] - anymore than 3 refs is a WP:REFBOMB to me. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:02, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • during the Revolutionary War's Battle of Harlem Heights on September 16, 1776 - could we reword to avoid the two links next to each other? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:05, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    •  Done
  • several blockhouse fortifications were built in the area. These included Blockhouse No. 1 in what is now Central Park - blockhouse is used twice here, and I feel it's a bit much. I realise it's a name, but you could link to it and say "the first of which". Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:07, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    •  Done
  • a retaining wall with stairways.[25][27][28]:100–108[29][30] - REFBOMB. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:09, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    •  Done
  • chief engineer Kellogg (who was later promoted to engineer of construction) worked on completing the measurements - do they have a first name? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:11, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    •  Done He was mentioned previously as well, so I reworded it. epicgenius (talk) 20:26, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are three sculptures located in Morningside Park.[161][162]

The first is the Lafayette and Washington... - probably could just be one paragraph here. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:14, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Done
  • There are a number of duplinks in the last couple of sections that could be cleaned up.Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:17, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

  • Automated note - If you fancy returning the favour, I have outstanding GA nominations that require reviewing at WP:GAN. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these, however it's definitely not mandatory. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)
  • On hold - very few items worth looking at above. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:17, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • Not sure if you got to the duplinks (on mobile, so I can't check very well), but it's not a reason to keep the article on hold. Passing this one now. Good job. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:04, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
