As I understand it Morpho laertes is not a valid name, because the original combination Papilio laertes Drury, 1782 was preoccupied by Papilio laertes Cramer, [1775] (now Memphis laertes). epistrophus Fabricius is a deliberate replacement name and should therefore be used.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Keith Edkins (talkcontribs) 10:56, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Global Lepidoptera Names Index for epistrophus suggests otherwise; that is, that epistrophus is the junior synonym, so the merge should be to laertes. Klbrain (talk) 04:16, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
