Australian Motocade[edit]

Can someone fix that pic its too large i put it there but dont know how to make smaller —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gargabook (talkcontribs) 03:18, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

umm can some one fix the part that states that ASIS protects the Australian prime-minister. They don't they have NO domestic responsibilities...

possibly mixed ASIS with ASIO. however ASIO doesn't provide direct active security for the prime minister they are a domestic intelligence gathering organization.-Freewilly2fly

PM Motorcade[edit]

Dude the PM's motorcade is bout 15 cars, check youtube or even if you watched the news lately she had huge motorcades in Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia, I for one am embarrassed by the size of it cos its overkill but its an encyclopedia and the truth is needed. If you can find a few references then ofcourse update it but the old version had references before it got deleted and im at work so i wont be able to find them but there was a pic on here before of it, check the commons or whatever its called. And see if you can put in something bout the GG in here wat with that chick stealing her handbag, it deserves to be here —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gargabook (talkcontribs) 03:31, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gargabook, you need to consider a few issues. Firstly, when the Australian PM or Foreign Minister (or other senior minister) travels overseas, the host country is responsible for providing motor vehicle transport and most of the security. Citing Gillard's experience in Vietnam or Malaysia is misleading -- this security is not provided in Australia and nor is provided by Australia. The Youtube video that you originally linked to (and commented on!) is from the Pope's visit to Australia and contains vehicles for no less than five significant persons: the Pope, the PM, the NSW Premier, the Australian GG and (bringing up the rear in the old Rolls Royce), the NSW Governor. Of course the motorcade in that instance is going to be large and, of course, the security provided will be massive given the threat assessment conducted in relation to the Pope. Again, to claim that this was representative of security afforded to Australian Prime Ministers is misleading. Finally, I note that, in addition to your Youtube comments and video postings, your Twitter page (Removed by Bidgee per WP:OUTING) contains a suggestion to the PM that security and motorcade size be beefed up. This suggests that you have something of an irrational obsession relating to prime ministerial motorcades and are not interested in the actual facts of the matter. As a result, I will continue to undo the incorrect information you post. Cheers. Echobase121 (talk) 13:52, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the section since it was unsourced. I'm with Echobase121, unless you have a reliable and verifiable sources. Using YouTube videos is just original research (size will always depend on the event). Also please also becareful when posting links which contain information which can/could identify an editor (yes it may be public online but if the editor has not linked to it then please don't post it [See: WP:OUTING]). Related to escort vehicles?[edit]

Are motorcades different from multi-vehicle groups such as are required for hazardous waste or Oversized Loads in some places or is that a kind of motorcade? When there is a legally united and required group of three or more vehicles, is that a motercade or something different? Could we have a link to Oversized Load here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.88.108.26 (talk) 00:26, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
