Ball lightning attack[edit]

The following comes from page 108 of Man vs. Weather by Dennis DiClaudio: "In 1853, Mount Desert, Maine, was beset with a gaggle of lightning balls during a blizzard. They came pouring into the townspeople's homes, entering through windows and doors and down chimneys, causing mass mayhem, hysteria, and no small number of injuries. One man was shocked so badly by one that he was left stunned and incapable of speech." Unfortunately, the author doesn't cite his source. There's also nothing about it on the Ball Lightning page. Anyone have more information about this incident? -Nobody202 (talk) 01:17, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rockefeller house[edit]

John D. Rockefeller Jr. built a large house on the island. I've seen photos of it, its massive. Shouldn't it be mentioned in the article? --RyanTee82 (talk) 04:43, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Note that this is the article on Mount Desert, a small town on the island. The article on Mount Desert Island does mention Rockefeller, who donated much of the land that is now Acadia National Park, but is only one of a long list of luminaries who had (and have) houses, some of them large, on the island.. . . .
