Semi-protected edit request on 27 April 2021[edit]

Please change "the Special Forces Group, a group also responsible for extrajudicial abductions, torture, disapperances and killings" to "the Special Forced Command, a specialized component of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) tasked with carrying out specialized missions or operations at a moment’s notice"

And Under Family, Please Change "Kainerugaba was born on 24 April 1974 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to Yoweri Museveni, who has been President of Uganda since 1986, he lost his mother during birth and was raised by Janet Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports since 6 June 2016" to "Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba was born on April 24, 1974 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Janet Museveni."

Not done: We're not going to add an external link in prose, and the wording of the second request is more precise as-is. Thanks. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:46, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

a group also responsible for extrajudicial abductions, torture, disapperances and killings[2][3] against the political opposition.

not only has been instrumental in security matters but has contributed tremendously to the growth of talent and sports in Uganda Ugandan Brigade (talk) 07:25, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The downside of SFC and its Leadership[edit]

This component had been thrown out "The Forces have been also made responsible for the extrajudicial abductions, tortures, disapperances and killings on political oposition[5][6]". I made sure this information doesn't get lost — Preceding unsigned comment added by UgandaH (talkcontribs) 20:20, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

UgandaH, I removed it, and the rest of the info about the SFC, from the lead. None of that really has a place in the lead of an article about a person. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:30, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
UgandaH, I trimmed some details about the SFC headquarters and operations, and moved the criticism from the lead down to the SFC section. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:53, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Facts of Human rights violation[edit]

Unfortunately the continuous edits from "ScottishFinnishRadish" are intended to eliminate backed up facts presented in the lines: "The SFC has been also criticised for the extrajudicial abductions, tortures, disappearances and killings on political opposition[5][6]. In this regard, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been cautioned by the ICC[7]." It lies withinin the public interest and the interest of the Human rights that this fact stays reflected at wikipedia. Thanks UgandaH (talk) 20:12, 12 May 2021 (UTC).[reply]

UgandaH, It's still in the article, just moved out of the lead into the body in the section regarding the SFC. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:20, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to human right violations are removed without justification[edit]

Unfortunately User Olaara has removed texts containing multiple sources about SFC human rights violations, his only justification for removal is "it is very wrong". Pls Olaara know that on Wikipedia sourcing of information is very important, you can't just remove information based on your personal opinion. For non-Ugandans it is important to know the following: Previous version of this lemma have obviously been written by the marketing department of Muhoozi. Muhoozi is the oldest son of Museveni and that's the only reason why he's leading the Security Forces. Family members of general Museveni have positions as ministers, CEOs of important businesses and MP. The fact that he's the son was not even mentioned in the introductory paragraph but is extremely relevant.

Another fact that is not mentioned in this Lemma but could be included later on is the so-called 'Muhoozi project': the project to get Muhoozi ready to follow-up his father as President. "An army general, David Sejusa Tinyefuza coined the term in 2013, alleging that there was such a project, and senior army officers opposed to it were at risk of being assassinated." Obviously, more sources need to be found before we include.

About the human rights violations, documented by Human Rights Watch. Almost weekly news stories emerge about abductions, torture & killings by security forces: UPDF, SFC, LDU and the police. Yesterday, this VICE documentary emerged that I recommend everyone to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlQR9RnYL2A. Let's not allow this important truth be swept under the carpet. The SFC has a clear role as an elite army to protect the President of the Republic of Uganda and the first family. The abductions and use of excessive force on Ugandans are just allegations and adding it to the General’s page is wrong and misleading Olaraa (talk) 03:02, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About Uganda’s special force command using excessive force and abductions.[edit]

The SFC has a clear role as an elite army to protect the President of the Republic of Uganda and the first family. The abductions and use of excessive force on Ugandans are just allegations and adding it to the General’s page is wrong and misleading. Olaraa (talk) 03:00, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for bringing your concerns to the talk page. Please give me, and other editors, some time to review your points and the relevant sources. I, for one, need to reread them to see if they phrase their reporting as facts or allegations. While we build consensus, please hold off on removing the SFC content. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 03:05, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am following up on this, has a consensus been reached? Why should an allegation be added on someones profile? Even if that is the case, there's no evidence that the General he personally authorized such abuses. Allow me to remove the legations please. Olaraa (talk) 06:09, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The Security forces do not abduct but arrest criminal suspects. [1] Olaraa (talk) 06:23, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is well documented that security forces use so-called drones without licence plates, are wearing civilian cloth rather than professional attire. Prisoners are not brought to court; if they are, they are confronted with trumped-up charges. Family members do not know where they are. If they are released most have been tortured, some don't come out alive. The ones abducted are opposition members. Read the various news articles Olaraa, these are abductions, not arrests. Please also comment on the Conflict of Interest COI that has been raised (below). Klupper (talk) 10:13, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a conflict of interest here?[edit]

Hi Olaraa. Looking at your edits so far, I wondered if you might have perhaps a conflict of interest with regard to this article. I have placed a useful template with information on your Talk page. Please have a careful look at it and respond there. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 07:34, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

COI tag (May 2021)[edit]

Some contributors to this page seem to remove a lot of sourced content and do not edit elsewhere. Do they have a COI here? DBaK (talk) 07:35, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of sections[edit]

The two Military Career sections lack resources. It reads like a propaganda text and should in my opinion be removed. Klupper (talk) 07:15, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Military Career section should be cleared of all unsourced content, which is the first 70% of the section.

The part of the contributions to AMISOM read like propaganda and are not sourced. The story doesn't match with the Battle of Mogadishu page, which is properly sourced. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Mogadishu_(2010%E2%80%932011) Klupper (talk) 16:47, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's half a year ago that I requested that the Military Section to be cleared up, but nothing has changed. If sourcing is not added, I will remove it soon. Klupper (talk) 08:23, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The sections Career & Military Career have been merged, unsourced content has been removed. Therefore the template Verification warning can be removed. Klupper (talk) 21:54, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Continued abuse by COI accounts or anonymous accounts[edit]

The COI question above has not been solved, and suddenly anonymous accounts start making the same kind of edits; information with sources is being removed. Likely these edits are coming from the communications department of SFC/UPDF. I request to block anonymous accounts from editing. Klupper (talk) 11:34, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
