'Mull of Kintyre test' http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/hit-and-run/hit-amp-run-seen-but-not-hard--the-big-penis-debate-1771105.html quotes Ofcom and BBFC that this is untrue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.52.90 (talk) 21:13, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Say what?![edit]

"This unique closeness of lands makes the area one of the only two places in the British Isles where Britain and Ireland can be viewed simultaneously; the other being Mount Snaefell on the Isle of Man."

I have commented this fatuous statement out of the article until such time as anyone who knows can tell us about the other places in the British Isles where both the biggest islands can be seen at once. However, even though I've never visited the Mull, it seems clear to me that if you can see County Antrim over the other side, then you must be able to see the Mull from over there (and anyway, I've checked this out on Google Street View, and yes, you can see it). That makes one more spot in the Isles where both the biggest islands can be seen at once. Now, I don't know about Rathlin Island, but I suspect there must be a few spots there where Great Britain and Ireland are visible simultaneously. Kelisi (talk) 01:27, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Holiday cottages no longer available[edit]

To whom it may concern: The holiday accommodation at the lighthouse is no longer available. Evidence: "Thank you for your email and I regret Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse accommodation is no longer available as the Lighthouse Board decided to sell both properties. The only lighthouse accommodation we let is at North Ronaldsay and Covesea." Lisa MacKay, LMacKay@nts.org.uk, 16 December 2013, answering my request. Merger discussion[edit]

To not merge as proposed, given that the proposed target seems inappropriate. Klbrain (talk) 20:57, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm proposing to merge Mull of Kintyre test with Mull of Kintyre. There is very little source material on this urban legend to justify its own article. Personally I blame geologists and geographers (That is a joke. For reference I am a geologist). Anyway, unsourced material keeps getting removed from this article about the test so this would solve that problem as well. Seddon talk 11:43, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Seems logical. scope_creepTalk 14:41, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. We shouldn't just leave this article dangling here. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:40, 19 February 2019 (UTC) p.s. as geology jokes go, though, this might be one of the best?[reply]
An interesting page. While semantics suggest that Mull of Kintyre is a good target for Mull of Kintyre test, that page is more about censorship. Perhaps a ssection of Film censorship in the United Kingdom would be better. Klbrain (talk) 19:35, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Just another example of Scottish articles being merged into English ones and lost. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.205.241.82 (talk) 14:46, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The domain 213.205.241.82 seems to be from Glasgow; surely the average Scot will know the difference between England the United Kingdom?! Klbrain (talk) 20:57, 13 August 2020 (UTC) [reply]
