Relevant quote and translation: 2000년 민족문제연구소 회원 등이 박정희가 '한 목숨 다해 충성함'이라는 충성혈서까지 써서 만주국 일본군관학교에 입학했고, 이후 일본군 장교로 복무한 친일 경력에 주목해 이 흉상에 욱일승천기를 씌운 뒤 밧줄로 묶어 쓰러트려 홍익대로 가져가려다가 징역 1년 6개월 형을 선고받았다. -> In 2000, members of the Center for Historical Truth and Justice announced that Park Chung Hee had sworn a blood oath where he wrote "Service Until Death" in order to enter a Japanese military academy, afterwards, with focus on his role as a Japanese collaborator, a Rising Sun Flag was tied to the bust, the bust was knocked over, and it was dragged to Hongik University. For this a one year and six month prison sentence was given.

@Toobigtokale: Article is just long enough, well-sourced, and neutral as concerns the political incident. QPQ done. I would like to see the citation titles translated to English (with the trans-title parameter) but that's out of the purview of DYK. I trust that the act of translating each work cited will have effectively paraphrased all the sources well beyond our standards for close paraphrasing. - Thank you for the review. I know it's a tough topic, but I feel like stories like these are important to share. Lot of unhealed wounds in Asia that are poorly understood elsewhere. Photo of bust[edit]

For copyright reasons, I can't show the bust of Park. I compromised by having it in the background of the photo, and only showing the back of it. I feel like this should fall within acceptable bounds of copyright; my primary goal was to show that it both exists and is fenced off. toobigtokale (talk) 10:54, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
