Counterflow?[edit]

On the page under "Principle" the following sentence appears:

Because the colder salt water entering the process counterflows with the saline waste water/distilled water, relatively little heat energy leaves in the outflow- most of the heat is picked up by the colder saline water flowing into the process and the energy is recycled.

The "counterflow" is not defined. Is the water counterflowing in a tank using the phenomena of upwelling, or is it in a series of pipes? It seems as if the pipes are in close proximity and energy is absorbed pipe to pipe, but it is unclear. I thought perhaps someone with experience and/or knowledge of such systems could clarify this. I tried to do a search on the Internet, but I could find no clarification on the methodology of the counterflow.

Counterflow means that the feed water flows from cold to hot, absorbing heat from the vapor given off by the brine that flows from hot to cold. This means that much of the heat energy in the water that leaves the heater does not accompany the water all the way to the outlet, but crosses the heat exchanger into the inlet water and returns to the feeder. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
