Comprehension[edit]

Special:Permalink/580103791 says: "In contrast to function libraries, a multimedia framework provides a run time environment for the media processing. Ideally such an environment provides execution contexts"

  • My question: where is the difference between an "execution context" and a subroutine/function in a library file, that can be called upon? User:ScotXWt@lk 10:43, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

android?[edit]

what framework is android use? Stagefright ? --111.175.93.166 (talk) 07:42, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

platforms[edit]

Wouldn't it be better to have a table of frameworks vs. platform. Also 'platform independent' vs. 'cross platform': that is the same (means JMF could go up to the platform independent group). Ensonic (talk) 11:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree to generally specify the supported platforms instead of using the word "cross-platform". User:ScotXWt@lk 10:43, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

general[edit]

Are the last two links in den windows section meant to be there? I would propose to remove them or at least turn them into links. Ensonic (talk) 11:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

key features[edit]

I think it would be good to explain key features of a MMF a bit more in detail:

  • detecting the i/o protocol (file, http, rtsp, mms, ...)
  • file type recognition (avi, ogg, asf, mp4, ...
  • detect codecs for each stream (h264, aac, mp3, vorbis, ...)

Good idea? Any good sources? Ensonic (talk) 12:15, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You mean make this article be more like the GStreamer article? For certain a valid idea. I neither have the knowledge nor the comprehension to do so. Me still thinks it is overkill to employ GStreamer for simple playback ;-) Of course I do that after watching several videos from "tech talks" at GUADEC and co. Many such Wikipedia articles (on software) are either too short or wrong or simply incomprehensible for me. User:ScotXWt@lk 10:47, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

mmf architectures[edit]

gstreamer, direct show, openmax and nmm are filter graph based. What other architectures exist? Sources? Ensonic (talk) 12:15, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FAQ[edit]

Are mmf use to build Virtual Studio and editing software, like DJ Software, FL (FruityLoops) Studio. --Ramu50 (talk) 21:29, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • many applications use an own engine internally, but might interface with a platform multimedia framework to e.g. use media capture, media rendering and/or accelerated codecs. Ensonic (talk) 19:41, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
