Multiprotocol Extensions for BGP are not only used for multicast, so I think it is not appropriate to call MBGP (aka MP-BGP)multicast BGP. The purpose of MP-BGP is to enable BGP-4 to support routing for multiple Network Layer protocols. MP-BGP can also be used to carry BGP/MPLS VPNs, IPv6, IPX information.

Yes, MBGP specifically does not have to be multicast, and I would also call it Multiprotocol BGP. It's possible that not too many people care, as nobody's commented since December 05, but I'll wait a bit and then move the page.--Diogenes00 04:43, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
