Wagga Wagga only gets a small amount (Less then 20% I think but I would have to source it) from the Murrumbidgee (the rest is from bores) however I think (I have no sources so don't take my word for it) Gundagai, Narrandera, Leeton, Griffith just to name a few get there water from the 'bidgee for town water. Bidgee (talk) 12:24, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.rwcc.com.au/f20.html 75% is from underground (bores) but can't find a source that states 25% is from the River. Bidgee (talk) 12:31, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think move content and let us work on it from there. I suspect dams need to be mentioend in the context of European settlemetn as they then of course precede irrigation, town water, ... --Matilda talk 21:31, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Something of interest to the Murrumbidgee and Wagga Wagga http://www.wagga.nsw.gov.au/www/html/2277-river-pylons.asp?intSiteID=1 . Bidgee (talk) 21:28, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
After starting work on a comprehensive list of tributaries, I've stripped out the superfluous content and moved it to Tributaries of the Murrumbidgee River. Feedback is welcome. Rangasyd (talk) 14:38, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Worst river[edit]

I've read the report but I've not found anything about the claims made by the media (170 page report can be found here). Seems to me it's just a media beat up. Bidgee (talk) 12:26, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flow section[edit]

Has a {when}, a {cite needed}, a {weasel words} note. If you know the dam, and the area, that is all mentioned in the paragraph. It has a date, a reason, a link. Dave Rave (talk) 23:09, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed the first {{when}} by simply deleting "now" as well. Context then makes it clear it's since the dam was built upstream. The Lintermans papers are not accessible to me, it is possible the reference [7] includes the snow melt, but I have not been able to confirm that. The paragraph could be reworded to use reference 9 which doesn't mention snow, but talks about lower peaks and reduced flow variation. The later {{when}} appear to be referring to geologic timescale, so naming the era would be appropriate. --Scott Davis Talk 00:38, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The whole paragraph is answered by the ref to the new dam. It has stolen all the water via the hydro water system re-direct and I'd bet it's all in the book, which is ref'd already. But with three sentences, the end ref looks bare though it covers the whole Dave Rave (talk) 03:55, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Discharge rate[edit]

before it goes to edit warring over a trivial number, with the reference material at Template:Geobox/legend#Fields, and I've found flow charts Dave Rave (talk) 08:47, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is a good page, but what should be selected? The rate will change a lot over the seasons, but is there an average for the whole year? What point should it be? Perhaps where it connects to the Murray. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:58, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
in the Geobox/River there is facility for five locations, if someone is going to add a number, 122, then where and when would be useful, because numbers are ML/Day v m3/sec and hard to correlate Dave Rave (talk) 09:41, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I saw this discussion, and had a look to see what I could find. This link to the Water resources and management overview Murrumbidgee catchment Table 4 provided mean daily flow figures for the article Geobox, I put Wagga Wagga first as the report states that "the long term flows at Wagga Wagga provide an insight into how runoff patterns in the Murrumbidgee have varied over time." Dividing the ML/day figure by 86.4 gives m3/s. Hope this is helpful...Jokulhlaup (talk) 11:35, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

River Map Inaccurate ?[edit]

Hi All, while I'm not game to try to fix - the map looks to be inaccurate below the ACT : it should head back to the Snowy Mountains e.g. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=murrumbidgee+river+map Cheers 58.6.173.41 (talk) 05:17, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
