Glaring omission: Ligeti

There's no mention of György Ligeti, who was a major 20th century Hungarian composer. I don't know enough about this subject to write anything cogent. Who wants to remedy this? --ILike2BeAnonymous 19:31, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

I noticed the same thing when I was adding László Lajtha yesterday. As a minimum, he could just be added to one of the lists of names under "Later 20th century" - but where? (Chronologically, he falls midway between the Kadosa/Farkas/Ránki generation and the Vidovszky/Jeney generation, and is in any case a more significant figure than any of them.) I'll put it on my to-do list, and if no-one else has a shot in the meantime, I'll try to write something next week, but (like you) I'm really no Ligeti expert - it'll simply be a matter of stitching something together from the Ligeti article and figuring how to incorporate it into this article in a coherent way, to plug the gap until someone more knowledgeable comes along. Popular Music section underdeveloped

There remains a lot to be said about Popular Music in Hungary. Finding appropriate reference material has proved difficult, any ideas would be welcome. Also, some of the existing text doesn't seem encyclopedic to me, most notably the punk-hardcore section. Before anyone declares this page "good", these need expanding and clearing up. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ddani (talkcontribs) 09:30, 1 May 2007 (UTC).

This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force. I question the quality of this article based on the Good article criteria. For that reason, I have listed the article at Good article review. Issues needing to be address are listed there. Regards, T Rex | talk 11:36, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

GA/R result

In a 5 to 1 decision, this article has been delisted, for various reasons which would probably be better examined by checking out the actual review, archived here: Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Archive 29. Homestarmy 22:52, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

POV-section box for Punk

Description of PICSA contains the phrase "nation-traitor beliefs and lyrics", which is hardly neutral. Asserting that the lyrics are treasonous (which is what I assume 'nation-traitor' stands for) might also earn a Disputed box for the section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.2.214.71 (talk) 20:44, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

I know this might be a drastic measure, but I replaced the disputed section (also corrected the erroneous naming). As it described an event not connected to the article's theme with harsh words, it is clearly a case of vandalism Poisonborz (talk) 15:27, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Improving to be GA again

I pushed the article under the scope of WikiProject Hungary in the hope that its weaknesses would be cured, and that it would eventually get its GA/R back. I will clear up some sections of Popular Music in the coming days, and adding some pics and info, but there are huge holes to be filled:

  • 'Rock section needs to be expanded to include events and bands after 1990, cleaning and moving irrelevant facts to other sections (like pop-group Neoton Família)
  • the Electronic music' section needs a revision and expansion to other subgenres
  • Festivals, venues and other institutions' needs a restructuring, I'm not sure how. There should be a section about popular clubs and venues.

As this is an important, summarizing cultural topic on Hungary, I think it deserves much more attention. Poisonborz (talk) 00:32, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
