In a recent episode of Radiolab called "Radiolab Live: Tell-Tale Hearts featuring Oliver Sacks: Dr. Sacks Looks Back", the doctor has what might be a final conversation with Robert Krulwich in which they discuss the case of a woman who experienced musical epilepsy after having had a minor stroke. She begins hearing a woman's voice singing Irish lullabies. The conclusion/diagnosis was that she was recalling her mother's voice from when she was a young child before her mother's death. I am 71 years old and have had musical ear syndrome for 4 or 5 years. For first. couple of years I didn't know what it was. i thought it was a neighbor playing old albums on his stereo. give learned to deal with it. mostly by keeping TV radio etc. loud enough to drown it out, but sometimes it does irritate me Andres loud in my head keeping me from sleep. I gear a mans deep voice singing constantly one after the other along with a chorus of women singing. I say that God and his angels are singing to me. They are mistlr religious,hymns, patriotic, Christmas and some I recognize and others ive never heard before. Just wanted to explain this and have a record of it. wish I could talk to other people about it but most people don't understand it and think I m hearing voices liketelling me to kill someone and they would rather pretend its not happening.
