MyBatis is an evolution of iBATIS. They share the same design guilelines and were built by the same team. MyBatis was coded in its origins as iBATIS 3 at Apache. MyBatis still has the "ibatis" name in it package name.
But, on the other hand MyBatis is clearly a different project from iBATIS. Though it may be considered a fork, it changed its name, got many new developers, built a whole ecosystem around it (integration, caching, scala, templating) and was developed with different policies (Apache's way vs Self plicies) and different tools.
The article may need some changes. For example, there is no point in describing the whole iBATIS history because that belongs to the iBATIS article, not to this one. The history should just state that MyBatis was a fork of iBATIS 3.
