Is this really called the N21? It doesn't seem to fit the national road classification; if it was ever built it would be by far the shortest national road and the only one entirely within a single metropolitan area. All other national roads connect distant towns and cities, this merely extends a few M-classified roads. Koekemakranka (talk) 23:27, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does not exist yet as described, but agree, no obvious reason why it would be called N21, as it seems to be an extension of the R300. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 09:28, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible that after the road is built, it will just take the name “N7”, this is because it is replacing part of it in the first place TapticInfo (talk) 17:38, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am Misunderstanding the last reply... How is it "replacing" part of the "N7"? Chils Kemptonian (talk) 21:26, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ring road around Cape Town[edit]

Tricky. There is coast on the west and south sides. So not actually a ring road? · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 09:25, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

True, but the road is proposed to connect to the N1 TapticInfo (talk) 17:39, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I saw an image which showed the exact areas where the ring road is meant to pass; So, instead of forming an O-shape, it is actually meant to form a C-Shape, from "Muizenberg" to "Melkbosstrand". It is meant to head like this: Muizenberg >>> R300 & M7 Interchange >>> R300 & N2 Interchange >>> R300 & N1 Interchange >>> Durbanville >>> Melkbosstrand. Reconstruction[edit]

I thing this page needs an update, any suggestions? TapticInfo (talk) 17:40, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moving the Page to “N21 South Africa”[edit]

I propose the move of this page to N21 South Africa, as it is more related to the topic TapticInfo (talk) 16:20, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Applicable Sections of Road[edit]

The pages N21 (Cape Town) and Cape Town Ring Road are very identical. What I want to know is, are they representing the exact-same roads? Also, there is another issue on the "Applicable Sections of Road", as the image in the infobox is not spreading the same message as the writing in the Article! The picture in the infobox states that the "ring road" is formed by the R300, N1 and M7 Freeways, meaning that that area consisting of Bellville, Parow, Elsiesrivier, Nyanga and Cape Town International Airport is the area circled. Then, the writing in the article (i.e. "Project N21") states that the road circling the city of Cape Town includes the R300 Freeway as well as some yet-to-be-built sections at either end of that R300 Freeway. Between these two statements (the "infobox" details and the "Project N21" details), which one is correct? Chils Kemptonian (talk) 14:01, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's Alright; I have decided to "merge" the two pages, knowing that everything that is written on one page is also written on the other page and there is no evidence that they are meant to describe "anything" different (they are talking exactly about the same topic). Chils Kemptonian (talk) 17:49, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

However, We still have one issue to clear, which is that the writing under "Major Junctions" in the Infobox is talking about how a certain part of Cape Town (i.e. Cape Town International; Parow; Bellville; Nyanga) is being "circled" by the R300, M7 and N1 Highways, which is clearly different from what the rest of the article (Introduction & sections) is talking about. Let us see how we can edit the Infobox to show exactly what the article is about. Chils Kemptonian (talk) 18:05, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The "N21"/"Penway" proposal consisted of the current R300, extended west from Mitchell's Plain to the south end of the M3 in Westlake, and on the other end north and then west from the Stellenberg Interchange to Bloubergstrand. That's what's reflected in the sources. The "ring" shown in the infobox map doesn't make sense and I don't know what sources were used to produce it.. htonl (talk) 18:50, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly the point. It is not clear how the picture in the Infobox was drawn up and now we need to find a way to paint the true picture in the Infobox. Even though I don't know yet which image we can replace that one with, I still propose we remove it. Chils Kemptonian (talk) 21:24, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Due Date[edit]

Quick Question... Exactly when is this "Peninsula Expressway" expected to be complete? It seems like this idea has been there for a while but implementation has not taken place. Can any "Cape Town" residents confirm if there are roadworks right now? GeographicAccountant (talk) 20:11, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The provincial roads department is currently preparing an extension from the current northern terminus at the N1, to the R302 on the northern edge of Durbanville. I believe geotechnical surveys have begun but no other construction work. (I have added this to the R300 article.) As for the rest of the route, it's purely in the proposal stage. Most of it appears in the City of Cape Town's district plans as "Proposed Urban Freeways". htonl (talk) 21:07, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the Information. Much Appreciated. GeographicAccountant (talk) 19:25, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
