"Orange man bad"[edit]

Why has nobody added any mention to the phrase "Orange Man bad"? it's one of the main NPC phrases and nearly as popular as NPC itself. the only place it is mentioned is in the section on billboard defacing, which really doesnt do it justice. 🜚 Yatagarasu 🜚 04:29, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What?[edit]

The NPC meme has been covered by news agencies of varying political stances, including Kotaku[8] (a video games news agency claimed to be "far-left" by for example Media Research Center) and Breitbart News Network (a news agency claimed to be "far-right" by for example The Week). What does this even mean? First off, Breitbart is de-facto a far right publication, not simply "claimed to be "far right" by for example The Week". I'm also baffled by the labeling of Kotaku, a video games news agency as "far left". Furthermore, there are a lot of claims made that the meme received media coverage, but no mention of what said coverage was. More specifically, there is no mention of how the NPC meme was used by supporters of Donald Trump to dehumanize his critics. That's a pretty big oversight. 46.97.170.112 (talk) 14:08, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you do not consider Kotaku a left-wing publication you are very clearly on the far left yourself and most likely acting dishonestly. NPOV 2402:B801:2867:E200:1109:B281:A64F:1D85 (talk) 13:57, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with this assessment completely, this is a very odd bit of text that references a source that Wikipedia does not consider reliable to describe Kotaku, as well as an obscure source to describe Breitbart as far-right. If more relevant and reliable sources can be used to describe the media coverage I think it can be added back, but the text as written above is ridiculous. 12.42.50.52 (talk) 17:37, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Agree also that the lack of mention of dehumanization is troubling. It's a very real undertone to the meme, certainly a contributing cause to its use, and shouldn't be downplayed. Nerdwizard (talk) 15:01, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What makes you think I care whether it is "far-right" or not? https://i.4pcdn.org/pol/1618561215590.png — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.156.185.48 (talk) 21:59, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Remove pronunciation guide[edit]

Why do you need to put a pronunciation guide for something so easily and widely pronounced, probably correctly? That is stupid. You know that no one will pronounce it "nipick" or something else. 2A02:14F:0:78A8:0:0:0:1 (talk) 14:09, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I know right? It's so easily pronouncable even Gen Alpha toddlers can pronounce it now. If you have no sense of humor, I'm gonna tell you it's a joke, but what I'm saying is that everyone knows how to pronounce NPC. No one is gonna pronounce it "nipick". 89.138.145.235 (talk) 08:25, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there an image of electric blue?[edit]

It makes no sense. Why is there a color in the doomer page? Baudshaw (talk) 14:58, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracy on statement about retweeting?[edit]

Is the following statement in the article accurate?

"The winning entry, by a Twitter user named "Carpe Donktum", was later retweeted by then-U.S. President Donald Trump on February 2019 before it was removed for copyright infringement."

I checked the referenced source from The Verge at https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/15/18226716/trump-meme-twitter-infowars-winner, which then links to https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1096485376087097344 (a tweet that is unavailable). Wayback Machine stored the snapshot of https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1096485376087097344 at https://web.archive.org/web/20190215190428/https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1096485376087097344, but this screenshot of the video looks _nothing_ like the winning entry video, which is linked in the Verge article as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SoVadiNIhM&t=14s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2620:0:1000:2310:2609:7D97:2282:847E (talk) 00:41, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So it's a fake. As always with wikipedias and journalists clickbaits. 2A01:CB00:118C:7600:1120:C1EF:F884:4306 (talk) 13:52, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it would be more constructive if you actually do something about it rather than making flat comments. Nothing personal. Carlinal (talk) 04:53, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm confused by this as well, but it's more in the matter of the archived page than the publication that listed it. It's definitely the same tweet as the one referenced by Insider. My loose speculation is either a glitch or a modified replacement by the publication/Twitter themselves. Carlinal (talk) 05:51, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Far-right"[edit]

Not a political term (Please stop edit warring)[edit]

Who is allowed to deem if a term is far right if the term itself isn't strictly political?

Here are multiple sources that describe the term in modern contexts without digression into political stances: [1][2][3]

Also, per WP:CONTEXTMATTERS, articles should go by what the term is most known for being. If one article or author interprets a term in a specific regard, it shouldn't directly clash with what a quick Google search would offer. Even when this article pops up in said search results, it's not displaying the results in which anything political is mentioned. Pillow da Don (talk) 18:23, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

STOP reverting to unsupported text ("it's often been used by those with anti-establishment views to describe those who fail to question authority, 'groupthink', or a stance that would display conformity and obedience.") When the Wind Blows (talk) 20:08, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Are you being purposefully ignorant? The sentence was an adaptation from multiple sources, meanwhile you're applying one, non-consensus given definition for a term, and adamantly deleting any sentences which give a better definition.--
Oop. Nevermind, you've already been blocked, thankfully. Pillow da Don (talk) 05:36, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
