Nicknames[edit]

I'm restoring the word "quickly," as the ESPN article -- dated weeks after Davenport joined the Steelers -- notes that he had already been given the moniker by fans. I think a few weeks constitutes "quickly." I think you can agree, either way, that some of the changes you've made to this page (and others) have not been entirely helpful and at times border on frivolous.

Either way, I think it would be helpful in the future if any further disputes over trivial points about this article were discussed here instead of being repeatedly reverted.Bdb484 (talk) 18:52, 22 January 2009 (UTC)BDB484[reply]

I don't agree with your assessment, and I would hope other observers would take a similar position as to what I have. This is an encyclopedia entry. It's not a play-by-play of all the nicknames fans have come up with for a guy who did the kind of misdeed Davenport did. You'll also find that personal attacks like the ones in your edit summaries and failure to assume good faith, as you have done above, are policy violations on Wikipedia. So no, I wouldn't agree that the changes I've made "have not been entirely helpful and at times border on frivolous." Now, adding the word "quickly" back into the article even though there is no source for it is frivolous. Why is that necessary? The wording is good enough without all of the extraneous commentary. Another note, using the term "quickly" probably qualifies as original research. It's not in the original source, so saying "quickly" is a Wikipedia editor's interpretation of the source, which is probably not preferable in this situation. You should also be careful not to use misleading edit summaries, as your previous edit summary to the article was inflammatory given that I didn't misinterpret the source. The source doesn't use the word, thus it's not sourced. Chicken Wing (talk) 23:26, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
