Distinction from Quantum Dots[edit]

It's not entirely clear to me what the distinction is between nanodots and quantum dots. Can 'nanodot' be used for structures which do not have quantum confined states? Most of the sources I can find for nanodots seem to be from company press releases (StoreDot, for instance), while most of the academic literature seems to use 'quantum dot' for the same technologies.

Perhaps we should go so far as to make nanodot and nanodots a disambiguation page which links to Quantum dots and Neodymium_magnet_toys.
