Party claims have to be treated with caution and are not necessarily reliable (PSD also claims the legacy of most previous social democratic parties in Romania). The first source also looks like a press release, while the second one treats party history before 1990 in 20 words out of an article spanning more than one page (the situation on Wikipedia was similar before I created this article). Precisely because the party claims 1875 as its foundation date, I have preserved that date in the modern party's infobox, but pretending there's no difference between the historical party and the modern one would mean enforcing the POV of the modern PNL.
