Dates[edit]

Any particular reason why winners only since 1946 are listed, as well as only including participating clubs only from 1978 onwards?

I'm going to be taking back the participating clubs as far back as 1946, maybe one year at a time, maybe not, if anyone sees any mistakes, of course please clean them up, thank you very much! Blackmissionary 23:37, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Semi or fully professional?[edit]

At $200k salary cap most players do something else to earn a living so should not have articles unless they are well referenced?Garrie 05:14, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the players were from the [[National Soccer League}], so that's why they may have pages. Others have had A-League stints. But apart from them, everyone else in my opinion is non-notable. Blackmissionary 11:25, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:VicFootyShow.jpg[edit]

Image:VicFootyShow.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Naming of the League[edit]

I have posted a query on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions about the Foxtel Cup image that User:Andrew.andii uploaded and added to the Victorian Premier League pages.

Over and above the issue of copyright of the image (and integral to using it in the first place) is whether the VPL is still called the Foxtel Cup.

As posted on the copyright page, the only official source for 2009 is a website http://www.footballfedvic.com.au/foxtelcup.php

However this appears to be a front page, and all other links from it lead to the original Football Federation Victoria site

And links to foxtel as a sponsor are now dead - http://www.footballfedvic.com.au/corporate/sponsors/

To make sure of this, and also to better inform the History of the VPL section on the wiki page, I need some press release or news document discussing the status of the sponsorship and naming deal.

Am considering contacting FFV to find out but if anybody has a source it would be great if you could provide it on the page

File:VPL map.png Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:VPL map.png, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: All Wikipedia files with unknown copyright status
What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

Victorian Premier League Champions Per City...[edit]

...is a really silly idea. It needs some sort of clarification as to what is meant by "Melbourne". There is a "City of Melbourne", but obviously the 98 premierships have been mostly won by teams outside that municipality, so what does it prove? And Morwell isn't a city. It's part of the City of Latrobe. And the section is unsourced. Unacceptable and pointless really. HiLo48 (talk) 07:53, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

totally agree, and deleted now. Matilda Maniac (talk) 07:44, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Champions and premiers' liss the wrong way around?[edit]
