Formerly listed ones[edit]

There's been discussion elsewhere about how to handle the delisted ones. I suggest centralizing the discussion here. I suggest table-izing the current NRHP listings (probably in progress elsewhere already), leaving whatever info is available about the delisted ones in place, then table-izing those. This is highly awkward to address if the main, revised article is not updated. I suspect there is a new article in someone's sandbox. Please move it in! I just inserted a table for the one formerly listed one in one county:

Landmark name Image Date delisted Location City or Town Summary
1 Forrest Milling Company Oatmeal Mill June 24, 1980 (added)[1]
September 10, 2008 (delisted)[citation needed]
N. Main St. Cedar Falls

I am certainly open to discussion of how this table should be revised, but again it is awkward if the current NRHPs are not yet table-ized. doncram (talk) 22:46, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All tables are ready; only the non-table bits, such as the headers for the county-level lists that I'm splitting for the large counties, aren't yet in place. I'm going to begin posting tables tonight. Nyttend (talk) 23:44, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've finished everything except the actual placement of tables. Because the page will be absurdly long if everything is on one page, I've decided to split out each county with ten or more listings. See {{NRHP in Iowa by county}} for all links, whether individual county links or links to the various sections for ones on the main statewide list. Nyttend (talk) 03:04, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of National Register of Historic Places listings in Iowa's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 02:31, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Woodbury county and other split out tables[edit]

I think there's some misunderstanding how the state-wide NRHP list-article is supposed to be working. Perhaps it could be labelled better or explained better, but it provides, within it, list-tables for each of the smaller counties. For Woodbury county and other bigger counties, it provides wikilinks over to their separate list-articles. It is not appropriate to copy Woodbury's table into the state-wide list article. The state-wide list-article is already at a pretty big filesize (106,545 bytes) and cannot hold all the bigger counties' tables. The guideline is that any article much over 100k should possibly be split into smaller chunks, which is what was done already in constructing this system covering all of Iowa.

It would be most helpful if anyone could please discuss there before making further changes along these lines within the list-article. I do concede in advance that maybe some better labelling/explanation within the list-article would perhaps improve the situation. What specific changes might help? doncram (talk) 19:22, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
