Portland West End Historic District, Portland Nob Hill Historic District ?[edit]

Alphabet Historic District mentions the Portland West End Historic District and Portland Nob Hill Historic District, but I'm not seeing mention of these historic districts at National Register of Historic Places listings in Northwest Portland, Oregon. Unless I'm overlooking, searches for "Nob Hill" and "West End" here do not show results for historic districts in Portland. Am I misunderstanding? Should this content be removed? ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:13, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Doncram, Ipoellet, and SJ Morg: Hoping at least one of you might have some insight here. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:13, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My guess is they are not NRHP-listed, but that they are real districts, created/named by Portland, wholly or partly included in the Alphabet Historic District (and my guess is "wholly", as Alphabet is quite a big district). And I have enough confidence to add, in this edit, mention of Portland West End Historic District (currently a redlink) to the West End Historic District disambiguation page.
Also: I'm not getting any response to any queries at all from the National Register tools system, it seems to be down.
Also: Using the NPGallery system's search screen, trying "Portland West" and "Portland Nob" and "Nob Hill" (e.g. by entering just the two words and selecting that "all" words must be included in any search results), I have not found anything in Oregon.
So being Not-NRHP is sort of confirmed, but again I expect they are local districts and can/should be mentioned there. --Doncram (talk) 19:46, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The mention in the article is supported by a reference to the "National Register tools" system, which would typically have cryptic mention but probably be accurate in suggesting existence of these things (and the real source for what it includes is the full Alphabet Historic District registration document, from which data entry people worked). They could be local districts, or they could have been proposals which were subsumed into the Alphabet Historic District, say. What does the 521-page registration text document on the Alphabet Historic District, available from NPS say? Can you get it to come up and be readable? Or try following instructions at wp:NRHPHELPNARA to get to a National Archives-hosted better version of the same (more reliable in delivery, and including also the photos which NPS provides separately from text). Actually i already put a reference to the National Archives version in the article (which oughta be combined with the NPS reference); that is available at https://catalog.archives.gov/id/77851189. It loads slowly. --Doncram (talk) 19:57, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
