Inaccurate Information and Lack of Details[edit]

This Wikipedia page for the National School Boards Association would benefit from an update. First, the second paragraph refers to the association with an incorrect acronym associated with the the National Association of State Boards of Education, a completely different association. The last few sentences in the first paragraph cite that other organization, so that information likely is incorrect.

Second, while some services and programs are accurate, many listed no longer exist.

Lastly, a lot of information is missing. It is worth mentioning who the current NSBA president is and the association's current federal priorities. NSBA provides legal and federal advocacy services to its members, filing more amicus briefs than any other association. NSBA has new initiatives and campaigns not reflected on this page, namely Dismantling Institutional Racism in Education and Public School Transformation Now! The association also worked closely with the federal government in passing the Every Student Succeeds Act in 2015 and is currently working with the Biden administration.

Sentence About November 11 Discovery is False[edit]

The sentence that I think is false reads:

On November 11, it was discovered that the NSBA had coordinated with the White House and the Department of Justice when composing the letter.[14]

The footnote for the sentence links to a Fox News article (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/nsba-coordinated-with-white-house-doj-before-sending-notorious-domestic-terrorists-letter-emails) that includes this:

Newly released internal emails reveal that the National School Boards Association coordinated with the White House and the Department of Justice before sending President Biden the notorious letter that compared concerned parents to domestic terrorists.

This brief passage creates the false impression that the NSBA's coordination with the White House and Department and Justice was about the letter, and we know that is false because the article cites this NSBA memo that says nothing about discussing a letter with the White House:

In the September 14, 2021 meeting of the OSAED liaison group, they were informed there had been a meeting with White House staff that morning and that NSBA was preparing to send a letter to the President,...

Subsequent passages make clear the letter was only drafted after a meeting with White House staff. There can only be speculation about whether the language of the letter was discussed.

I propose the sentence be deleted, or alternatively be changed to instead emphasize the content of the NSBA memo rather than the Fox News article, which calls its own credibility into question with numerous unsupportable and/or inaccurate statements, for instance that the letter "compared concerned parents to domestic terrorists." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Percipient (talk • contribs) 15:30, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
