Untitled[edit]

I think it would be interesting to mention the tit-for-tat measures that happened after the USA started with the Special Registration. First with Brazil, who always had a tit-for-tat diplomatic relation with the USA (an AA pilot even got arrested by the Brazilian Federal Police for making an offensive gesture to officials). And now Iran is also implementing the tit-for-tat for all USA Citizens to be fingerprinted as well (that is, when they enter Iran). --Pinnecco 02:37, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Section: 2016 US Presidential Election[edit]

There is a section titled "2016 US Presidential Election" which discusses a statement by Donald Trump regarding a national registration system for Muslims. However, I'm familiar with his statements on that subject and have read the cited article, and nowhere is NSEERS discussed. While it's possible that NSEERS could play a part in such a system, the wording of the section is flatly false. A cursory search for a source which outlines a connection between the two subjects without relying on assumptions or conjecture came up empty, so I will be removing the section as unencyclopedic. I welcome further discussion, but please bring it here prior to reverting my edit.

Broken citations and misleading lede[edit]

The links for citations 1 and 2 both give a 404 message. A better link for citation 2 would be the official Homeland Security rule, which can be found here after its official publication (December 23, 2016) or here before then. However, citation 2 is attached to an incorrect claim ("the entirety of the regulation was deleted on December 22, 2016") - the date that the rule goes into effect is the date of its official publication in the Federal Register (December 23) and further, the use of the term "deleted" is inaccurate. Citation 2 would be better placed on the last sentence of the lede ("On December 22, 2016 the Obama administration announced that it will dismantle the NSEERS regulatory framework, which essentially cancels the program."), citing the official Federal Register rule. @Deltorva: Thanks for posting! feel free to make the changes you suggest re cite 2, which is now cite 3 i think... I couldn't find a non-forbidden link archived for what you're calling cite 2 (which I think is now cite 3).
