Merging[edit]

I think that Museum of Natural History should stay and this page should just redirect to Natural History Museum - the London museum which is the only one to have that official name. I've added to that page a disambiguating link back to Museum of Natural History, which should be used for lists of museums (as it already is) and hopefully expanded for more general articles around the subject, such as preservation of exhibits, history, role in research and conservation etc. This page contains little of interest and could better be served by the two pages it currently disambiguates to. The current (good) intro line and categories should be moved to Museum of Natural History. Any objections? Loxlie 16:38, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalisation/scope[edit]

So is this article about natural history museums, or institutions with the specific words "Natural History Museum" in their name? In fact, should this just redirect to List of natural history museums, as natural history museum does? --McGeddon (talk) 18:51, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not if "Natural history museum" - with or without caps - is a topic worthy of encyclopedic coverage. I have added sourced content about the history of such institutions which should not be deleted, and exceeds what would go in a mere list article. Well, if this is what you're going to do with the page, it obviously belongs at Natural history museum without caps. Also, I would suggest you either eliminate, cull down, or diversify the list of "Notable examples", as right now it still looks like a disambiguation page for the proper noun "Natural History Museum". -- tariqabjotu 20:31, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think the paragraph and a half of this article can be a nice header to List of natural history museums. A list does not have to be skeletal and bereft of any prose or substance, as shown by Wikipedia:Featured lists. By combining these two articles, the reader gets useful information without being subjected to a shortened, arbitrary and possibly biased list of "notable examples". --Animalparty-- (talk) 19:46, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
